VOLA drop new single

Danish prog outfit VOLA have released a single and video titled "Head Mounted Sideways". The song is their first new music since their 2018 LP Applause of a Distant Crowd. In a statement the band said:

"We are exhilarated to present to you our brand new single ‘HEAD MOUNTED SIDEWAYS’.
Produced by Asger Mygind and mixed by Jacob Hansen (Katatonia, Evergrey, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy among others), the song moves into new sonic territory with what is probably our most expansive production to date. To explore the song visually we reached out to the young, upcoming Finnish director duo Riivata Visuals, who built a world from scratch around the track and added their own dark and energetic twist."

"Head Mounted Sideways" can be streamed and downloaded here:

The mix is noticeably heavier than the last 2 albums from these guys, this song's got a good groove.

If there's one things these guys do well, it's groove.

I remember VOLA getting knocked for "applause from a distant crowd", but I thought it was absolutely great. And this seems like a natural continuation. Sounds awesome.

These guys are easily the best djent band behind Meshuggah, their sound is a perfect mix of heavy chugging and melodic dreamy parts.

Chorus seems very out of place at first but kinda fits when the song goes on. This really needs multiple listens to truly appreciate I think, sounded very strange at first listen haha. Production is really good and the bass sounds AWESOME

Yeah, another great track from them.. hoping that the whole album is going to be heavy this time and for more screams, just like on their debut album Inmazes.. new album is already recorded, they are now mixing it so probably early 2021 for the release

I really liked the shimmery melodic stuff on Applause and I found the slow djenty stuff here kinda boring...

that bass rules though
