Medium rarities really? Didn't Cattle Decapitation have a compilation with the same name or something? Checked, yes they did.
| |
Yeah, at least it's coherent with cattle decap's name and vegan ideology. Mastodon probably did it for the lulz.
| |
I adore Mastodon, but I'm not really a huge fan of this song tbh. It feels like a huge amalgamation of ideas that don't pair well together at all.
| |
Which is probably why it didn't make it into any of their major releases.
| |
Ok, I just read the description, nevermind
| |
another dud
| |
Pretty much.
| |
Pretty excited to hear Orion
| |
*looks at track-listing* Oh yes that painfully obscure Mastodon rarity - ‘Blood & Thunder’.
Have very little interest in this tbh.
| |
Foo Fighters also had Medium Rare if that counts
| |
Not really interested in a rarities album that almost exclusively exists out of instrumental, live or cover songs.. The new song is amazing though.
| |
Solid track.
| |
nice to hear scott kelly again
| |
Tracklist is such a disappointment.
Song is real good though.
| |
Yeah that song was pretty cool. I'm always down for more mastodon jams. Tracklist is really meh tho, not really worth getting excited about.
| |
Great song, the main-riff is really good! (Kinda felt like it was written by Teloch, haha!)
| |
Man, "Linoleum Knife" takes me back.
But yeah, tracklist overall is kind of disappointingly heavy on the live/instrumental/alt take thing, which is fine for what it is, I guess, but not my cup of tea.
| |
It's really a shame what happened to this band.
Song is avarage as best, the best thing in it is Kelly's feature.
| |
Yawn
| |
Cut You Up With A Linoleum Knife.. excellent. Bring on the college humor.
“Do not crinkle your food wrappers loudly. Be considerate to others or I will bite your torso and give you a disease.”
| |
Such a wasted opportunity to leave their best covers from this: Just Got Paid, The Bit, Stairway to Heaven and Emerald.
| |
Y'all are lame as fuck, I'm buying this
| |
I think this song is pretty nice actually, didn't expect it
| |
flaming lips cover?
| |
they should go back to writing pop prog rock like on Crack the Skye
| |
Song is fun, nice to hear Kelly as always.
| |
Mastodon has to be one of the worst metal bands of the last 25 years or so. Just consistently awful and cringey music
| |
Lawd. What a statement.
| |
Welp my only expectation for this was that it would include their cover of "Just Got Paid" and they failed me :/
| |
Song is pretty cool, tracklist for the album is not.
| |
"Mastodon has to be one of the worst metal bands of the last 25 years or so. Just consistently awful and cringey music"
People like you ruin this site
| |
Y'all really acting like a dude who 4.5ed Audioslave has opinions worth considering huh
| |
idk they've stunk pretty hard for over a decade now
in that time the only release of theirs ive enjoyed was the ep a couple years ago, outside of that they've been so dull and uninspired
| |
nice dig sint prob my favorite release of the year so far
| |
Sint’s right, but to say they were NEVER good, or worse ‘awful/cringey’ (like that other dude) is way off base.
| |
Personally I've found every album of theirs to be enjoyable. The newer albums have a lot more pop influence but I think they pull it off super well.
| |
genuinely curious as to how the fuck they play "A Spoonful Weighs a Ton"
| |
lol me too
| |
Not too many kind words on this track, but I personally think it's pretty solid. Doesn't look like it would be worth purchasing, but glad White Walker will be getting an official release.
| |
I've been a Mastodon fan for years and even liked much of their last album, but the production choices for this song are so bizarre. It just sounds so filtered and muffled. I also felt that the blending between older-era guitar sounds and newer-era song structure sounded really awkward. With that said, I'm still looking forward to a new LP from them.
