This will undoubtedly change their style at least somewhat, moreso if they get a couple new guitarists. I am not totally against Amott joining assuming he can keep with their style and not go full Arch Enemy, since he and the dude from Skyfire are live guitarists for DT it only makes sense that both are brought on as full members.

Pretty sure Sundin hasn’t written the majority of their music for the last few albums. Not that seeing him leave isn’t sad but unless whoever replaces him full time really brings some new shit to the table it’ll probably be business as usual

Agreed. Niklas and Martin were easily my favourite melodeath guitarists and songwriters. Sucks that both of them have now left, but they leave a huge legacy behind.

Brandstrom and Jivarp will probably be the primary composers, which started happening from Construct anyway. I think they might go mellower and in the "Anathema" direction that Anders hinted at a few years ago

Nah DT still have a decent amount in the tank. Their last few albums haven't been amazing, but they've been decent. They've got potential for at least a couple of great albums before retiring

I would love for these guys to become a melodeath Anathema. My favorite albums are Projector and Construct, and one of my favorite tracks is Hedon, so....

Ha ha. I don't get the hate (or general dislike) for Projector. It could also be that it's my favorite because it's the first DT album I had ever heard. So I wasn't comparing it to older or newer releases.

Ha ha. If we're counting both bands, I'd heard Images & Words and Awake before Projector. If I'm being honest, they're all three top-tier albums.

Projector is one of my favorites but it’s just below their first three albums. And Construct is right below Projector

I think they do the goth/melodeath thing almost as well as the pure melodeath stuff of the early days. I would def want a bit of both

I definitely think it's time for them to make a change. They've been at it a long time, and at this point there's only the vocalist and drummer left from the first album. Maybe time to take some risks... at least for one album

Not surprising tbh. They've been touring with them for a while, plus DT is bigger than any other project they're currently part of. Johan is a beast. Curious to see where they'll go musically.

When I say interested I don't necessarily mean excited, I'm just very curious as to the level of influence they have had on the new record. For the past few it's been Jivarp and Brandstrom writing the music which might explain the lack of good guitar riffs but with these two on board now who knows. I'd welcome a more guitar-oriented album, they haven't had one since Fiction.

Yeah I think Jivarp and Brandstorm will be the primary songwriters again. I think they will give Johan and Chris some space in the writing process. Both are songwriters inherently, so it wouldn't make sense to not involve them. Plus they could take the music in a different direction
