K.K. Downing Forms New Band

2020-02-19 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 25 Comments
Former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing has started a new band called KK's Priest. The band consists of ex-Priest Tim "Ripper" Owens and drummer Les Binks, who played on classic Priest releases Stained Class, Killing Machine and Unleashed In The East. The line-up is completed with guitarist A.J. Mills (Hostile) and bassist Tony Newton. (Voodoo Six).

K.K. Downing commented:
"Forging ahead with KK's Priest was not only inevitable but essential for me to perform and deliver everything that is expected from me and KK's Priest. Due to the massive demand and overwhelming support from fans around the world, I feel this is where I belong, and a set combining the true, classic songs and sound of Priest, together with great, newly forged metal tracks, is what fans can expect when KK's Priest is taking to stages."

The band is working on their debut album, to be released via Explorer1 Music Group. KK's Priest will also play in selected gigs later this year to celebrate Priest's 50th anniversary and Downing's career as a founding member. The band's setlist will include Judas Priest classics and new songs.

I have mixed feelings about this, yet we are dealing with one of the greatest heavy metal guitarists of all time.

seems really petty and spiteful about not being invited back into Priest when Tipton had to stop.

Without a great producer, I'm concerned about what might come out of here.

DUDE, yes KK Downing is in it, but also LES BINKS and RIPPER OWENS!!! Frick I'm excited. FYI Les Binks wrote the greatest Priest song, "Beyond the Realms of Death."

The name is your typical money grab reformation project, but hopefully the music is good.

Really lame name, just sounds like they're a cover band. Who knows though, might be good.

Live they'll be fine... I'm betting the album they're working on is a train wreck.

Pretty much a glorified tribute band of course, but good for him and the other ex-Priest members to be back at it I guess. Obviously there's no Priest without Rob (never really considered the albums with Owens as such), so I'd still rather catch what's left of the real thing on the road.
