RIP horrible news, this dude was younger than me, can't imagine your life ending that early
he also did a ton of community work back in Chicago from what I've heard
| |
This really is just tremendously sad, RIP
| |
Today is the first time I even heard of that guy. Anyways .. Another one bites the dust. RIP

But also fuck X, he was scum through death.

horrible, RIP
| |
Fuck, RIP
| |
Had no idea he was that young before this tbh. Sad to see someone go this young.
| |
Had a ton of talent and even more potential, felt like he had barely tapped into that potential, devastating news. Even more devastating when you go back to his reactions to XXX and Lil Peep's deaths.
| |
Saw this as my first news post at 9am this morning. Sad, I dont like the music much but RIP to him anyway. 21 is too young.
| |
wtf chilll
| |
RIP to a sadboi legend. My brother glorified this dude. Truly saddening news
| |
21 is too young man R.I.P
| |
Never heard of him but rip
| |

| |
thats sad as hell
rip juice
| |
He actually foreshadowed his own death in one of his lyrics “I ain’t making it past 21” but no matter how fast you live that’s too young to die rip
| |
Wth rip
I liked lucid dreams when it would come on amp radio, how sad
| |
rip juice
| |
RIP. by all accounts a good and kind soul. hadn't even reached his full potential yet and still dropped major hits. so much of his stuff is going to be so hard to listen to now.
| |
So wtf happened?
| |
it says it in the article right there
not hard to miss
| |
I think he meant why would a 21 year old die of a seizure i.e. did he have an underlying condition or what concoction of drugs was in his system but I'm not sure we'll get an answer for a while and it doesn't really matter
| |
RIP, my man. guy was a good dude and a legit musician.
may his art give him life beyond this tragedy.
| |
emo rap superstar
| |
Super bummed about this. "Fast" and "Hear Me Calling" were two of my most played songs this year. It's heartbreaking that him, Lil Peep and XXX all died one year apart from each other with none of them being older than 21.
| |
jesus this is sad. like, not the hugest fan of his stuff, but i have loads of respect for the dude and he was a really legit good person. it's sad to see him go so goddamn early.
| |
never really liked his music, but that's awful. way too young, rip
| |
Maybe there is a mental health issue in the United States?
| |
imp, i agree there is but homie died of a seizure.
| |
Had no idea who he was, also did not know he was this involved in his community, wish there was more publicity on this. RIP
| |
yeah he was a great influence to his community. i'm sure they're devastated right now ugh
also @madrigal and Imperial, it was a seizure due to drug withdrawals from on and off extreme abuse of them, it's unfortunate as he was trying to get off of the pills again but he def did a lot of lean in his final weeks if you look at pictures of him. plus it's the same shit that made Lil Wayne have multiple seizures, and led to Fredo Santana developing a seizure disorder that killed him within just a few months. we really do have a mental health issue that's causing a lot of violence, substance abuse, corruption, pain, and a huge division in our country. things just need to change ¯_(ツ)_/¯
| |
rip but who edited the artist description on his sput page to 'An American Hip-Hop rapper currently dead in Chicago, Illinois'
'currently dead'
| |
. Listened to Goodbye & Good Riddance a lot last winter. This one hurts.
| |
honestly fucking gutted about this.
| |
RIP. 21 is just too young to pass away. When the autopsy comes out, if it does end up being drug-related, then I wish society could open our eyes to what the artist of a song is saying versus just "ayee this shit slaps." Guy very evidently had a substance abuse issue and we just kinda mindlessly jammed his songs until it was the death of him. Idk, it's tragic and I wish we'd stop idolizing drug use. He was just a kid who needed some help.
| |
I mean what were people really supposed to do? Stop listening to his music to send a message that they don’t agree with his drug abuse? It’s up to those who knew him closest to try and intervene, and most of all up to him to make the first step. I think the chips are stacked against you when you’re a emo rapper given that drug abuse is possibly the biggest theme so people get desensitised to hearing about it
| |
Never really listened to his music, but man, going out at 21 like that is just horrible...
Hope the dude is in a better place now. Condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
R.I.P.
| |
@EphemeralEternity no, and re-reading my character capped comment, I realize that sounds like the solution i was proposing. I agree that intervention was needed by his friends/family, but I feel like the masses being desensitized to the lyrics contributes to the issue. It thrusts an individual with a problem into fame, creating a vicious cycle where their drug abuse fuels their music and vice versa. It's one we should at least be privy to

he was too young

I'm not gonna say it's not a shame because obviously I don't want anyone to actually die at such a young age, but at a certain point you have to wonder if it's almost part of the scene / culture to abuse these drugs to such an extent. I swear it's all the young generation of rappers who are dying so young of overdoses of the same drugs. Is it a question of medical culture in terms of how easy it is to get access to these things? Or maybe the romanticised / almost fetishised image of the sadboi persona? I completely shun the argument that it's simply individual cases of people with depression dying of overdoses. Young people in the music scene have always been depressed and always used drugs. Really interesting.
| |
“Everytime its always the same "he was too young" or single R.I.P. comments its really disrespectful if you really cared about him at all you would be able to muster up something better then that“
I think that’s infinitely more respectful than these dorks that come on here and preface what they say with “I NEVER CARED FOR HIS MUSIC BUT...”
| |
botb, tbh I disagree, as I am assuming your unfinished quote would traditionally say something like "but this is such a shame, he was too young to leave us!" or something. It's effectively the exact same comment showing the same level of respect. If anything, it's showing more respect for the actual human who lost their life by stating that you are sad for the despite not liking what they did with their career / life. Maybe you could argue quantities but to argue it's infinitely (or even greatly) in either direction seems wrong to me.
| |
no i agree with botb, thats a disrespectful comment to make, if anyone cared the least about this rather than just trying to appear upstanding they wouldn't need to qualify that they didn't like their music, because thats of no importance to paying respects
| |
Yeah that's a fair point tbh, didn't consider that.
| |
i think people should stop glorifying this toxic emo/drug/suicidal hip-hop culture that's developing. I mean understanding where it's coming from is important but it seems like many people are sort of enjoying being depressed like it's some thing now just to be taken lightly. It's trendy now. But really these people are suffering behind the scenes. it's like a vicious cycle. the artists are struggling for whatever reason, they're on drugs, etc. and then they make the music and people like it and relate to it but they're glorifying the tragedy and the drug use, etc. it's all very toxic
too many young people dying
| |
lmao dude didn't kill himself, he did something very stupid under stress he couldn't handle cuz he was basically an unsupervised child.
death-driven? maybe. Not suicidal.
| |
i disagree, if you live this way you must not value your life very much. suicidal themes are a big part of the emo rap trend today. i said the culture is suicidal, and it is, even if this particular person didn't commit suicide.
| |
i think there's a difference between actively seeking to end your life and not caring a lot if you live or die. Tossing the word "suicidal" misses the point. Lots of people aren't suicidal, it's just getting harder and harder to justify our own existance. I can totally understand that feeling and i see why a musical movement that dwellves on those feelings and anxieties would gain relevance. Cuz it's fucking happening to a lot of people.
| |
It’s almost as if addiction is a disease and these kids aren’t getting the help they deserve
