Kinda underwhelming, but at least it’s mixed better than The Blood Album

definitely pretty tame, but I really enjoy it. I think it'll be killer to hear live. can't wait for the rest of the EP! the tracklist for anyone who's interested:

Curious about this one, hopefully a step up from Blood, which I honestly forgot even existed until a buddy and I were talking about the band the other day, always a good sign.

I wish the chorus had a bit more bite vocally. Instrumentally this is sick.

"I was aiming for something a little raw for 'Get Dark'. In fact, I used most of the vocal takes from the very first time Davey sang it, as well as some of my guitar parts from when we were writing it. The song is built on the sparseness and simplicity of the verse drum groove and guitar riff that opens up into this big anthemic chorus. For the EP, the same idea of a certain rawness was really important to the overall vibe. I feel like it's easy to turn out a slick, polished set of songs, but to walk that fine line between studio creation and live sound can be difficult. Reminds me of Dumb Kids. I've heard they wrote a stupid amount of songs for Blood, I bet there were enough songs written that have a stronger melodic pop punk sound like this.

Theres an interview where Davey and Jade claimed to have over 60 songs written and at least partially record for DU and almost as many for every other album they have ever worked on. Jade even claimed to have ipods filled with all the demos lol

Yeah, it's kind of annoying how little of that stuff has surfaced. Their b-sides are usually phenomenal, especially the ones from STS, DU, and CL.

Yeah, I hope one day they just drop it all in a disorganized mess that we have to dig and sort through.

I think at least some of it's out there, somewhere.

I know one of the unreleased tracks they've discussed was a Blaqk Audio track titled "Nothing Good Happens Past 3". They insisted after Blaqk Audio shows the only copy is on Jade's ipod, yet someone listed a copy of the song on a disc on eBay and the guy who bought it posted a clip of the song on youtube. Not sure if it's /that/ song, but it is an unreleased Blaqk Audio song that someone somehow got. Same guy wound up leaking the demo for Get Hurt and The View From Here.

Definitely not too shabby but I think it would have benefited from Davey hitting some high notes in the chorus too so it didn't sound as monotonous.
