oooooooo! tell me if it's good
| |
it’s awesome
| |
Dude. This is very solid.
| |
oh shit
| |
Yup it’s good.
| |
i do not like that main riff at all, sounds 2 decades out of date
| |
"i do not like that main riff at all, sounds 2 decades out of date"
Sounds straight off Slaughter of the Soul. This song sounds like a new At the Gates song, no more no less.
| |
Decent.
| |
This is *nice*, but I doubt anyone would care about this song if it wasn’t ATG.
| |
thank you
| |
3.5
| |
3.2 and we have a deal.
| |
Tell me where this falls sound-wise among the rest of their discography.
| |
Between Slaughter of the Soul and At War with Reality.
| |
Fuck yeah. Count me in.
| |
solid stuff
| |
If this is the best track on the album, it'll be a 3-3.5. If this is the worst, this album is gonna own.
| |
I liked it.
| |
'i do not like that main riff at all, sounds 2 decades out of date'
yeah its like an At the gates tribute band at this point. They lost whatever made them special. It was a time and place and now it just sounds like a bunch of old dudes trying to recreate what they cant.
Basically by writing a 3rd rate Blinded by fear riff.
| |
Ehhh this didnt really move me
| |
Is it just me or does the main riff sound like a B side version of Blinded by Fear? Kind of weak imo
| |
Just said that 2 comments up but nice one
| |
It’s similar ye, still like it
| |
Digging it.
| |
mixed on this one. it feels a bit faster than the last album and the production is a lot fatter but the kicks could use some boosting imo, drums get a bit washed out.
| |
this album may be uneventful like the last one but then again it might be good.
| |
Enjoyable, this is actually the first thing i’ve listened to since they reformed as i kind of forgot about their last record.
| |
Best keep it that way
| |
Slaughter Pt 3, here we come!
| |
Not really sure how I feel about this. It's solid, but it doesn't really sound all that different from At War With Reality. Hopefully the rest of the record is better.
| |
sounds like rehashed sots material
but its pretty sweet
| |
I like the energy in this song but I found it hard to truly *care* about what I was listening to, and it doesn't sound much different to other bands out there. 3.3/5
| |
Pretty fun song
| |
The vocals sound really muffled, but the rest of the song is fine. It sounds exactly like what you'd expect from a band that defined a sound a long time ago - more of the same. I'm fine with that though, better that they keep re-hashing SotS than attempt to imitate bands that they influenced (In Flames, etc)
| |
Be better they just called it quits than continue with run of the mill versions of themselves IMO But then im old as fuck and lived through the glory days and saw them in tiny bars and shit and i just rarely feel reunions at all and this is just another one. I didnt hold much hope for this album anyway so its not unexpected. The red in the sky is ours part 2?? gtfo
| |
Always get these guys confused with In Flames lol
| |
It's pretty good. What else did people expect from them at this point? They had stripped down to the basics before they quit the first time, it didn't seem likely they were going to do anything other than the same during their second time out.
| |
Wow, that was even lamer than I expected. Terrible stuff.
| |
Fun song, the riffs are pretty nice.
| |
This is good shit boys.
| |
This was p generic tbh
| |
So...you're all complaining about something sounding too close to what is considered one of the best albums ever written in the genre? Alrighty then.
| |
Jason, this sounds like a deflated version of SotS, please don't insult the original thing by comparing it to this
| |
I don't trust people who wear baseball caps indoors
| |
I mean, yeah, it's about what I expected from At the Gates but it still riffs pretty hard.
| |
yeah this rocks
| |
atg bby
| |
this is dope but why the hell is the mix so quiet lol I literally had to double my volume
| |
Damn this freakin rocks
| |
nvm I'm fucking dumb
| |
pretty good tbh
| |
Rips.
| |
Upcoming albums from The Crown, The Duskfall, Amorphis and At the Gates...
Nice
| |
Pretty good track. It'll never be able to compare to their seven-worders, but at least it's better than Slaughter and AWWR.
| |
"These dudes are nearing 50, if you're expecting material from them at their golden era caliber at this point you're delusional."
This has never been a solid argument considering old-ass dudes like Keiji Haino and Michael Gira still make louder and wilder music than most metal bands
| |
Like if these guys can do this then At the Gates can make the growly growls: https://youtu.be/U4VY0YZKT3A
| |
It's an alright song. I think they can do better, but will probably work best in the context of the album.
| |
lol fuck some people are hard to please.
its ATG. they're legendary. it's a good track.
| |
"
lol fuck some people are hard to please.

yeah god forbid some people want a band to produce good music rather than just cash in on a name
| |
Damn, that was the most ‘meh’ track I’ve heard for ages.
Not bad but nothing great either.
| |
I liked it. It was solid At the Gates, perfectly in line with their last two or three releases. It's good music even if it's not ground breaking.
| |
decent, if quite formulaic
| |
yeah god forbid some people want a band to produce good music rather than just cash in on a name'
THIS!
| |
This song is more At the Gates than anything on the snoozefest that was At War with Reality.
| |
TO DRINK FROM THE NIGHT ITSELF
| |
Ayyyyyy this wasn’t bad at all
| |
So this is reminiscent of Slaughter then, ok I’m leaving...
| |
you'd think Slaughter had a 2.9 average from just reading this thread
| |
Slaughter SHOULD have a 2.9 average.
Darius, what you been doing since Popstars then?
| |
This track bangs.
| |
"you'd think Slaughter had a 2.9 average from just reading this thread"
I think the problem is that most fans of the band tend to agree that Red and Fear are much better albums and Slaughter is just bare bones. Is it good? Yes. Do I want more of their watered down Slaughter sound instead of the mind boggling shit they were writing for their first two albums? No. They promised they wouldn't make Slaughter 2.0 when they released AWWR and yet it seems like they are gearing up to release Slaughter 3.0
| |
This was so bland and boring, that I'm not even gonna check their album out.
See, if it were actually BAD, then I would've actually checked the album out to prove myself that I could be wrong on initial assessments.
But it isn't even bad, it's just... meh. A huge fucking M-E-H.
and that's coming from a huge SotS fan... :/
| |
Digging this hard
| |
Demon you're on bath salts.
| |
I think the problem is that most fans of the band tend to agree that Red and Fear are much better albums
Slaughter has wayy more votes and a higher average so that's not true
| |
Sounds right out of slaughter if the soul and I really can't complain because that's my favorite melodeath album ever. Their new album should hopefully be a solid 4 but I still cant get over how ridiculous that title is
| |
the problem isn't that it sounds like slaughter, it's that it sounds like a slower slaughter
| |
Sounds like Blinded by Fear, but hey it's definitely their signature sound
| |
lol anyone who claims that this sounds even remotely like something from SotS is deaf.
It's actually exactly the sound and style from their last album (AWWR).
| |
Yeah, agreed Skull. I hear very little slaughter in this.
| |
I guess, but this song doesn't have the same edge and aesthetic.
| |
This sounds way more like AWWR to me than it does Slaughter, idk.
| |
This old ass melodeath band sure did rack up a lot of comments for an ordinary news article, it's quite interesting
| |
I don't know, they are one of the most influential metal bands ever. The article could have literally just said "new at the gates song" with the video and it would have had the same number of comments I would think. Their legacy speaks for itself.
| |
Perhaps, but I would be curious to see if other bands like Dark Tranquility or whomever would rack up as many comments.
Obviously this thread isn't rape/murder news tier. Those numbers are untouchable lol
| |
Solid song. Never got around to the last album
| |
Why does it feel like I ve already heard this before
Hmmmmm
| |
the riffs are fine but omg the vocals sound like Kataklysm...
| |
Cool stuff, in the same vein as At War with Reality. 3.5/5
| |
The legends are back! Hell yeah this slays.
| |
Production/mixing is kind of weird but overall surprisingly great. Opening riff is one of their best. The song sounds a lot like Blinded by Fear but that song is awesome so it’s fine.
