Damn that riff is groovy. Bloodstone was pretty forgettable so hopefully this turns out good.
| |
That riff sure made me dizzy
| |
I think Exodus has a song title by that name too. This song sucks....it's obvious they're still aiming for the 5FDP and A7X fans. Not really surprising given the teenybopper artwork.
| |
Decent I guess
| |
Yeah?
| |
"Isn't rob flynn like 50 though".....yes, his faux anger now is funny
| |
Now that you say that, even funnier now that it was at age 49 that he engineered "Is there Anybody Out There?" lol
| |
Lmao excruciating. If there's even been a song that's a 1/5....it's that.
| |
Is it just me or does the main riff sound like Strapping Young Lad's track Love?
| |
Lol glad you guys are enjoying it, I’m feeling a 2.5 for this
| |
(It was sarcasm, I’m saying this in just in case it wasn’t obvious)
| |
Riff count: 1
| |
The guitars being so hard panned is quite trippy. Also strange how they never use any backing tracks, like while the 2 guitars are soloing there's just bass in the center.
| |
How many songs can Rob insert the lyrics "My middle finger raised..."?
| |
"How many songs can Rob insert the lyrics "My middle finger raised..."?"
Right? Ironically, he's actually just at leftist marches literally crying over how oppressed women are.
| |
"Is it just me or does the main riff sound like Strapping Young Lad's track Love"
Yeah bloc. I was reading comments on facebook and at least 10 people commented the same thing.
| |
Just went to the Youtube link and saw the same comment at the top lol
| |
Strange one, but isn't he said this album gonna be calm and slow with "The burning red" parts?
| |
I think more "melodic" was the exact description he used. But yeah not too excited for this one.
| |
More melodic is usually a euphemism for lazy and generic.
| |
This isn't very good tbh
| |
It'll fit in on Sirius XM Octane real nice...Jose will falsely hype it up like it's jam of the millennium I'm sure lol
| |
I'm a pretty big fan of these guys, and have no trouble saying that this is kinda ass. God damn.
| |
Yeah even Devy has commented on Twitter about how similar that intro riff is to Love haha. Eh, just one of them things, with so much music there's bound to be similarities.
| |
More melodic is usually a euphemism for lazy and generic.
lolwaht
| |
At least pertaining to heavy bands, it's basically codeword for "don't bother with this album, it probably sucks and we're just pretending to be metal still while the quality of the music continues to diminish."
| |
First 40 seconds sound like Slipknot.
| |
amazing how they went from songs like Killers and Kings on the last album which were some of their best straight into this trash
| |
Yeah sadly, Robb has made it pretty clear his agenda is building a mall-metal fan base.
| |
band sucks. band never put anything good out. band should disappear
| |
"American thrash/nu metal band Machine Head"
They haven't been nu metal for like 15 years.
| |
Um did you hear "Is There Anybody Out There?" It was their most recent new music prior to this...
| |
lol
| |
You mean head machine
| |
The burning red and supercharger are where to start.
| |
"Can someone rank this band for me so I know where to start"
1. Burn My Eyes
2. Through the Ashes of Empires
3. The Blackening
4. Bloodstone & Diamonds
5. Unto the Locust
prob don't bother with the other few.
| |
That's exactly my ranking too. Nice.
| |
m/
| |
Mostly on the shitty albums you should avoid like Supercharger, The Burning Red, etc. Just stick to those 5 I ranked and you'll be okay generally lol
| |
The More Things Change is their third best, tf.
I also personally like The Burning Red....
| |
I was joking ! Damn, you could at least have mocked me !
| |
"Jamming Old now. m/"
Olddddddddddd, mannnnnnnnnnn. Great jam. Outtro to Davidian is one of my favorite things ever with the chugs and the extra beat put in every 2nd time through the riff.
| |
14 year olds will like this
| |
No. Please. C'mon! Not this feckin' sound again. Christ. Damn. Why? How? What? Huh?
| |
Damn I always thought Locust was their best album
| |
Locust is awesome, but so are the rest of their last four. Burn My Eyes is the shit too.
| |
This song is weird.
| |
Yeah it's not great.
| |
a steaming pile of shit
| |
Blackening and Locust are pretty high up there with Burn My Eyes. Bloodstone is pretty solid as well. This though... why are they going back to that REALLY unpopular nu-metal sound? It almost disbanded them for fucks sake.
| |
"...I found salvation in masterbation..."
It actually does sound like that tbh
| |
It's good Aiwaz, but I think for at lot of us it's their 6th best album.
| |
I think we've all found salvation through masturbation one way or another
| |
Holy shit is this ever terrible
I'm also one of the few who thinks that The More Things Change is at the very least Top 3 Machine Head
| |
Burn My Eyes, The More Things Change and The Blackening are all great. Through the Ashes... is tolerable. Unto the Locust is meh. Bloodstone & Diamonds is bad.
| |
Unto The Locust is my favorite
| |
I've always found Rob Flynn to be so pretentious, he's so obsessed with being 'metal' and having all these influences that he needs to worship.
Unto the Locust is a fucking good album tho
| |
What I love is that people panning the riff in this for being nu metal/mallcore/etc. probably wank off Strapping Young Lad.
| |
it just sounds nu, sorry
| |
So Strapping Young Lad's song "Love?" is nu metal
| |
dev is fred durst confirmed?
| |
Darkness Within is legit
| |
Can't bring myself to listen to this. Last single was putrid garbage. Can't believe this band shit the bed AGAIN after one of the most glorious comebacks in metal history.
| |
Yeah this is pretty bad unfortunately, and I really dug their last 4 records.
The solo was fun I guess.
| |
Jesus this in unsurprisingly LAME
| |
"So Strapping Young Lad's song "Love?" is nu metal"
When did I imply that?
I said this song sounds nu, meaning it reminds me of nu metal. I never said anything about Strapping ffs
| |
0:19 was basically my overall reaction to the song
| |
I like the idea of 2 guitars solos playing at the same time, never understood why metal bands don't do that more often
| |
yeah the 2 solo thing is probably the best thing about this song
| |
hangar
18
| |
Great, now I have to check this shit out, THANKS GUYS.
| |
They only did it the once but in pretty spectacular fashion, yeah. Jesus, how did the band that wrote Halo write this shit?
| |
That they most certainly are. Whether they come back from this one is doubtful though.
| |
Main riff bangs, y'all are bitches.
| |
LOL!!
It's a toit nu-metal riff, no doubt, but fuck this band should never touch nu-metal with a 10-foot pole after their shenanigans in the late 90s - early 00s.
| |
Fuckin' nerds itt.
| |
The riff is just a slightly sped up Strapping Young Lad riff
| |
How in fuck is that a bad thing?
| |
then it's settled. no one cares except for Ghost, who calls people nerds despite being a cuck
| |
How dare you.
| |
I'm not really a fan of the band and not that familiar with their past work. But I find this pretty generic. Lyrics are elementary. Terrible. It's also cheesy in some parts like the cleans sound super wimpy. are their previous albums similar to this sound?
| |
It's similar to a couple of the bad ones, but not a good representation of anything worthwhile by these guys. Check out Burn My Eyes or The Blackening.
| |
we all rip off meshuggah
| |
This sounds as lazy as new Slayer but just wIth better production.
| |
That riff is definitely a complete rip from Love? in a different key, and the drums are even identical. Shit song honestly.
| |
Phil Anselmo > Robb Flynn
| |
How does this keep getting worse the more I listen to it?
| |
Damn. I actually thought their last two albums had some of their best material, but I had the feeling this would happen...
| |
The bubble had to burst eventually
| |
Eventually being about 18 years ago
| |
I'm not gonna bother with some poor analogy about a second bubble but yeah, to each their own
| |
Limp Bizkit is better than any Machine Head
| |
It is bad tho. The lyrics are pretty bad. "Yeah, i found my refuge in like metal and shit, we are the freaks and like proud of it man. metal metal metal
| |
Flynn was never a great poet... He's a lot like Max Cavalera that way, he excels at just writing simplistic in-your-face lyrics most of the time which is fine. But because of his angsty past (feeling abandoned by his natural parents, growing up in the Bay Area) he has a tendency to on occasion get very emo. Case in point, the first single from this album was a super hammy tear-down of Phil Anselmo after the White Power shitstorm that he triggered. While Flynn was directly in the middle of that situation at the time, and I think his heart is in the right place as I know he's a big softie, when he writes from such an emotional place and inserts himself into the song it's just bad most of the time.
-edit- I know the whole point of that song was 'you can find refuge in metal no matter what colour your skin is even if a couple of bad metal apples make you feel marginalized like this dick over here. Which is an important message to deliver and all that, it was just so cheesy and ham handed and that song is awful like this one, that's the problem.
| |
"Yeah, i found my refuge in like metal and shit, we are the freaks and like proud of it man"
Nearly every song they write has this theme lol
| |
LET FREEDOM RING WITH A SHOTGUN BLAST
| |
''Flynn was never a great poet... He's a lot like Max Cavalera that way, he excels at just writing simplistic in-your-face lyrics''
Yeah, well imo Max has more weight to his stuff due to his past (witnessed brutality in Brazil, it's really interesting to read about his life there)
| |
I honestly thought of 'Love' when I heard this song the first time and then I see Devin has commented on this as well hahaha.
I have to say I enjoy older MH and a few of their newer albums but this and their last album are just wtf.
| |
Decently catchy but man could this sound any more dated in a bad way? Cringed very, very hard when he started singing about having his middle finger up in the air. Did you also wave it like you just don't care?
| |
People itt acting like they don't enjoy Bulldozer smdh.
| |
Ummm no one acts like they enjoy a terrible song like 'Bulldozer'. Fuck, that whole album tbqfh.
| |
sounds very dated, like something that could have been out in the early 2000s.
Solos are amazing though! But still pretty much the only good thing here.
MH really went left field hard with this song. Flynn isn't even ashamed to say so in interviews, that they've dumbed down and streamlied the sound a lot for the upcoming album.
Sounds bad, but I still wouldn't judge too quickly as their first single off Bloodstone & Diamonds (Now We Die, was it?) was also kinda sucky, but the rest of the album still turned out awesome
| |
Decided to listen to "Love" because everyone keeps referencing it and whew, what a jam!
| |
The vocals sound like a crappy mid-2000s nu-metal band. Everything else is pretty good. I'm okay with the riff being so similar to Love because that song has the best groove and I've never been able to find anything similar to it.
| |
the song just sounds quite dated, it's like they released a song they have been sitting on since the early 2000's
| |
Terrible
| |
"There is no external way to tell when this band is ready to suck"
| |
quality
| |
HALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
| |
ouch! cringeworthy to say the least.
| |
Congrats on finally catching up. Now you get to witness the trainwreck with us in real time.
| |
this album will be so bad
| |
problem with MH is that the first 30 seconds or so of their stuff sounds pretty good, but by the time it gets to half way you just want the song to be over...
| |
Artwork kills me. Would be very edgy for an 11 year old doing a school project.
| |
Looking back on it, I would say their album arts have always been shitty. This new one is easily the worst though.
| |
Agreed bloc. The Blackening (an album I find to be very overrated musically) does have a pretty sweet metal cover though.
| |
True but the difference is Limp Bizkit is almost intended to be a joke band aimed at teenagers. Machine Head tries hard to be metal and elite.
| |
Yep The Blackening is far and away their best artwork. I also happen to find that album a bit overrated.
| |
Ugh, this is terrible.
| |
Oh boy, what happened to this band? Not looking forward to the new album at all.
| |
