Broken Social Scene return

2017-03-31 by Sowing STAFF | 21 Comments
Experimental indie-rockers Broken Social Scene have debuted material from their first record in seven years. "Halfway Home" marks the lead single from the yet-to-be-titled album, and it was given a live unveiling on last night's episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. On a SiriusXMU interview, Kevin Drew stated the following about the song, the band, and the record:

"It’s been 17 years together as a band, and you just pick up where you left off. It’s always been that way. We’ve been working on this album on and off for the last year, and we thought that, since we’re an anthemic band, we wanted to bring the celebration with this first song...It was important for all of us to come together because it’s the only thing we can politically do at this moment in time."

The album, which is finished and in the process of being mastered, will be out soon according to a quote from Drew. Hear the Sirius clip here:

sounds like a coldplay song and not in a good way

the guitar work at 1:21 is fuckin fine as hell tho

edit: I'm still stoked for this album though, I could see this working really well in an album context. just not a fan of that chorus

Solid, and easily better than pretty much everything on their last album. My hopes are high for this.

Damn the twin guitar assault is amazing, I love how they weave in and out of each other.

I found the ending part to be actually quite emotional, idk song just sounds like a "We are Back" statement. In context of the album this could be a gem.
