Yeah I don't see them making another AILD record, they moved on and formed Woven War, it's clear as day that he burned a lot of bridges when he got arrested and imprisoned, from his criminal actions to essentially throwing the band and their values/morals/image under the bus.

I mean they are all still technically in the band and if the record label wants another AILD album, one will have to happen. If they refuse though, I don't think anything is stopping Tim from just firing them all and hiring session musicians.

Eh Tim doesn't have star power to helm AILD as his own project with a new backing band, and even though they're a very cliche metalcore band, they still have a signature sound that a new group of guys won't be able to capture.

I'm not saying they will reform, I'm saying they are contractually obligated to create an album if the record label wants one because as was stated in an interview a few months ago, the Wovenwar members are still members of AILD because it never dissolved.

I'm not sure if Metal Blade will WANT another album, I'm just saying they would be in a bit of a pickle if one was asked for.

That's why I said if a record was asked for, they could probably just all get fired from AILD and they wouldn't really care because they have Wovenwar. I'm just not sure if they would face any other penalties for refusing, like what Kesha went through when she wanted out of her contract.

The record label could have the right to sue the band for not fulfilling their contractual agreement, the band could argue that something as big as a main member being thrown in prison for attempted murder could cause irrevocable differences and thus allowing them to legally not complete their contract, if not they could be sued for a hefty sum of money, at which case they could weigh the pros and cons of just paying the damages or recording another record.

Yeah that's what I was figuring, my line of thought is:

Best case: label doesn't ask for a new album and this sorta goes away

Next best case: They ask for one, Wovenwar members say fuck off to Tim and Metal Blade releases them from the contract and new members join

Bad case: They decide to record another album, it sucks

Worst case: They get their asses sued off for breach of contract

I wouldn't necessarily write a new album off as being terrible if they do it, some in band friction and confrontation could spark some really interesting and even angry riffs/lyrics that could suit them.

Its hard to say. Tim used to have a reputation for being a super nice dude. Was it an act? Did he just turn into an asshole? People aren't born evil, things happen that make them do bad things and I think, if the testimonies about what he used to be like are true, something must've happened in the months/years running up to the incident which made him batshit crazy. The drugs, for one thing, along with an apparent loss of faith, could have impacted that. We're never likely to know what the psychological effects were because as far as I know, he never had any psychological examination during his trial or jail sentence.

This is really sad to see him let steroids turn him into such a shitbag, As I Lay Dying was one of the first metalcore bands I got into.

I'm not sure what other drugs he had been taking besides the 'roids, but it does seem to go in line with how he's progressively changed. Nice guy starts taking 'roids and then becomes more aggressive, begins to lose faith, more irritable because of it. I'm sure that would've affected his marriage.
