Sum 41 declare War

2016-08-25 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 61 Comments
Sum 41 have released a new music video for the track "War" from their upcoming comeback album, 13 Voices, out October 7 via Hopeless Records. The piano driven track is a contrast with the melodic hardcore influence of first single "Fake My Own Death".

What were they going for with this? Deryck you're not Josh Homme, you can't make your own 'Vampyre'

I don't think it's terrible and it's certainly better than some of the other "ballads" they've released throughout their career. Choosing this to be the lead single though over something heavier? Meh. Deryck did describe the record as a mixture of Chuck and Screaming Bloody Murder, so I am cautiously optimistic that it'll be more Chuck with Dave back.

Damn, I was hoping for more fast shit. These piano-verse radio ballads are always terrible. Best part is the Wu-Tang shirt worn by my bro.

If being in Sum 41 stops Deryck from drinking himself to death then by all means let them release as much music as they want.

I figured they'd have a song like this for their new album. "Pieces" was a big hit for them, only makes sense that they'd do a ballad in the same vein. I don't expect the whole album to be like this (if it is, well that's just disappointing). As for the actual song itself? It's harmless.
