This is much different than Sentenced to Life. I'm liking it a lot.

i mean yeah its good. doesnt have that unique flavor they used to have though, i could mistake this for any other decent swedish style death metal.

Liked sentenced to life. How is this different?

Sentenced to Life was one of my top metal records the year it came out. I've listened to this record once through, and it's pretty good, but I'm convinced I won't like it as much as Sentenced. A few observations:

-This record seems (on average) slower than Sentenced. More death metal grooves this time around.
-The vocals are considerably different; he's gone for a early 90s death metal growl instead of his notable hardcore bark.
-No more gang vocals!?

It's good, but I really need to dive deep in order for this one to stick with me.

Also, I have thus far liked the production on Sentenced to Life more than on this new album.

This album was announced and released within a month. In a perfect world all records would be handled that way.

Any band can say they're working on an album. All that matters is the official announcement.

Arc of Violence is epicccc

The scream is indeed different, but he still screams till he can't breathe anymore.
They definitely changed but it's not too immense to really change your opinion of them.
I think their next album might have a drastic change in sound though. Especially with "A Place Of Insane Cruelty" maybe hinting at something.

In spots this so different for them. I think they pull off the newer instrumentation really well. They need their vocalist do something else during those parts to compliment the music though. I'm thinking cleans if possible.

Chains of the Afterlife is such a missed opportunity for them. If only they had a vocalist to match.
