I really like this song.
|
| |
It just seems grossly generic on all levels
|
| |
It will be interesting to see where they go without a concept behind the album, pretty hyped for it.
|
| |
the song is plain boring but it is really interesting what they will come up with without this stupid concept
|
| |
Feel like this could be a chance for Claudio to write some real-life, genuine stuff without the concept in the way
hopefully he does and isn't just full of "you go kid you got this" for 12 tracks
still decent song though
|
| |
The profanity in this track seems really forced and awkward.
|
| |
wow this is a bit disappointing tbh
|
| |
never listened to tthis band before and now I'mrly bummed iIdid
|
| |
really disappointed, lyrics sound like they came from Nickelback.
|
| |
yeah I can't dig it; needs far more prog and amory wars influence
|
| |
"first non-concept album"
yep, going to be their worst
|
| |
Not their best work, but this is sput, so if it's not SSTB or IKSSE, everyone's going to shit all over it.
IT'S PRETTY OKAY.
|
| |
I dug both Afterman albums though
|
| |
I'm just making overbearing generalizations (And I'm definitely biased since they're one of my favorite bands, so I apologize) but I expect the general judgment to be pretty negative.
|
| |
I'm expecting it to have a negative response because it's not a good song
|
| |
needs more prog
|
| |
hmm, interesting
|
| |
As a huge Coheed fan, this song doesn't do much for me. It reminds me of their more poppy records, but less fun. Still, expectations for the album as a whole remain high.
|
| |
Song was alright, just not what I was expecting. Pretty much just a pop-rock song.
|
| |
yeah I don't hate it but my god those lyrics are so cheesy, even for C&C standards
|
| |
yeaaa
seems like something my gf would like, but then again something I might like too so we'll see
|
| |
I just hope that the rest of the album isn't like this
|
| |
I was super excited on the first listen, but I really am sticking to my opinion of "It's pretty okay."
Hopefully the album is better than this song.
|
| |
The outro is the only good thing about this song.
|
| |
I love Coheed but not a big fan of their happy sounding major key songs
|
| |
They'll always be one of my favorite bands and I'll support whatever they put out, but I'm not loving this too much. Granted, I'm interested to see what they can do on this album, so no judgement yet. I just have a feeling this is going to be down near the bottom of their discog like Black Rainbow.
|
| |
Y'all are too pessimistic. This is a good track, and I expect even better of the album.
|
| |
NO, UR JUST A FANBOY
|
| |
I probably am, tbh.
Still good, though. Dem hooks.
Haters gonna hate.
|
| |
It's okay, I am too. It's an okay song, we just hold Co&Ca to a higher standard, sir.
|
| |
I'm more bummed that the band have abandoned making interesting proggy rock n roll songs in favor of generic candy-coated pop. I hope that the choice to operate outside of a concept doesn't mean that those 8 minute long jams are going away as well.
But I have a feeling it'll be like Afterman and we might get one or two on the whole album.
|
| |
as a big fan of all their albums I am disappointed. the song felt like a rushed product and it really never goes anywhere exciting.
|
| |
I don't know why people are freaking out and thinking there will be no prog songs on this album. They have 1 or 2 poppy songs on every one of their albums (Blood Red Summer, Favor House, The Suffering, Feathers, Away We Go). That being said, wasn't my favorite song, but definitely enjoyed it. Good to get new material from Coheed.
|
| |
yep, song is definitely in the vein of their poppier songs, probably won't be the overall sound of the album at all... not a bad song though.
|
| |
Man. That is some poppy garbage.
|
| |
I liked the Afterman albums but this...yikes.
|
| |
Their poppier stuff like The Suffering was fine, but this is leaning towards being really generic and uninteresting.
|
| |
The beginning sounds like that "Atlas" song. I hope this isn't a reworked version cause Atlas was great
|
| |
coheed's pretty notorious for slipping pop numbers in their records, maybe this is just one of the few that's going to be on the new album?
|
| |
Atlas >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> this
|
| |
doesn't stack up to any track on Descension upon first listen
|
| |
Yeah, this song was absolute shit.
|
| |
I liked it except for the lyrics were pretty bad.
|
| |
Not.... completely out of place considering some of the tracks on Afterman. But it sounds even more like Jimmy Eat World.
*With explicit language.
|
| |
Big fan. Seen in concert many times...
TERRIBLE!!!!!
|
| |
It's good for what it is, but not really the single I want to hear from them.
|
| |
The vocals sound good, and like the guy above me said, it's okay for what it is. But this sounds like I could've been written by some any generic pop punk band out there. Hopefully the album will be better.
|
| |
What the fuck is this
|
| |
So boring...
|
| |
Definitely hoping the track is a grower - I love Coheed, and am definitely still super interested to see where Claudio takes this. A studio version of "Atlas" will make the whole record worth buying, though.
|
| |
Every Coheed album has at least one poppy song, I wouldn't be so concerned
|
| |
It's not that it's a poppy song, I love most of their poppy tracks. My issue is that's a shitty poppy song.
|
| |
this is probably the blandest song yet
|
| |
They play some beautiful, melodic acoustic pieces (Atlas, I Dissent, Afterman bonus tracks, etc.), yet they release a song like this...
It's not bad because it's pop. Their poppy songs are quite good and have memorable, more complex lyrics/song writing.
This song is bad because it lacks the same substance this band is known for, concept story or not.
That outro tho.
|
| |
i really don't mind shitty lyrics but when they're forced on me with these lyric videos i do
|
| |
Lyrics videos definitely make it harder to overlook them.
|
| |
This is laughably bad. Hearing it out of context, I would have guessed a Simple Plan single with Chad Kroeger as a guest lyricist
|
| |
Are we sure this is Coheed & Cambria and not... you know... Fallout Boy or something?
|
| |
Not enough Big Hero 6 product placement, Atheist.
|
| |
I like when people say "and I'm like, the biggest Coheed fan ever... THIS SUCKS" like it's some sort of validation. The fact that you are such a big fan (if you really are), will probably only make it harder for you to approach any new music with an open mind.
That being said, this wasn't the worst thing ever. Whoever said the profanity seemed forced was spot on. Some good vocal moments, that never really went anywhere unfortunately. Otherwise, some pretty harmless pop-rock without much of a point.
|
| |
Super generic, forced, awkward, and devoid of hooks. How is the rest of the internet saying WOW DIS A GOOD POPPY COHEED TRACK, no, it's not, it's terrible. Hopefully this single is the worst on the album.
Come on guys. Like seriously. The last few albums have been super bad and it doesn't seem to be shaping up. Their aggression and technicality is gone.
This is like when I went to go see Jeff Martin from The Tea Party. He just had a kid. Didn't play any Tea Party songs, but a bunch of slow, incomprehensible songs he wrote about how beautiful it is to have a child. STOP IT.
|
| |
I like everything they've done, so it's not like i'm close-minded to their style...but this song just felt so awkward to me. I dunno. Maybe it'll be a grower?
I like when people say "and I'm like, the biggest Coheed fan ever... THIS SUCKS" like it's some sort of validation.
I think it's just their way of saying that they're familiar with the band as a whole, rather than just liking a few songs/albums. I know some people who only like, say, their more hard rock songs (such as Welcome Home and The Running Free)
|
| |
It's like they threw Rush and Fall Out Boy into a blender, set it to "Generic" and out came this.
I do like the "Nobody gives a fuck who you are" bit though.
|
| |
Wow, this is actually really bad. It sounds like Fall out boy, and not even good FOB. Also, the profanity sounds way to forced. I've never really been a Coheed fan, and this definitely won't make me one.
|
| |
Song's growing on me for sure but the personal connection to the lyrics still isn't there.
I played this on youtube at 1.25 speed- slightly faster, it was pretty good (1.10 would probably be perfect). Perhaps all this song needs is more energy/intensity.
|
| |
man that artwork....
|
| |
"The profanity in this track seems really forced and awkward."
agreed. 'shit' would've been better imo
decent track, overall
|
| |
you know I'm slowly starting to warm up to this. Still don't like the lyrics very much but they aren't annoying me as much as before.
|
| |
I really don't think this song is so bad. It's not great, but it's a catchy, fun tune, which is what they were probably going for.
|
| |
I guess, but at the same time critics are calling the lyrics on this "meaningful", which for the most part I don't really get.
|
| |
...Well, that's just silly. Not every Coheed song (or not every song in general) has to have some sort of deep meaning attached to it. Did they not get the memo that this is the first non-concept album?
|
| |
Non-concept songs can have meaningful songwriting tho...
*disclosure: not implying that these songs do or don't have them
|
| |
Oh, definitely. I'm just saying that I don't think this song in particular is meant to be some deep metaphor or anything like that.
|
| |
Oh, gotcha. But you know how them certain critics are, everything has to have some sort of artistic meaning or else its "bad". And when you have Coheed and Cambria, they're probably going to try to find whatever they can.
