Tom Delonge talks follow-up

2007-05-29 by Intransit | 22 Comments
Just when you thought Tom Delonge couldn't possible out-hype Angels and Airwaves first record, the head of the "business" has offered up a statement on the forthcoming LP, tentatively titled i-empire. Alternative Press quoted Delonge on the following.

"The thing that I love about most everything in the world is how people underestimate me. I came out with We Don't Need to Whisper saying I wanted to revolutionize modern rock and everyone thought I meant with just that record. They had no idea. My band is part of a business that does a lot of things. When we launch this record, we'll also be launching a major piece of technology that will revolutionize mainstream America.

This record is 10 times what the first record was in energy and anthemic nature. It's more beautiful, atmospheric, and artistic-Whisper with a huge boost of adrenaline. It's about building your own utopia...I'd love for people to go to the top of a mountain, open their car doors, and blast this album as they look down on the city beneath, pretending it's theirs."

The piece may be read in full in the July 2007 issue of Alternative Press Magazine, issue 228.

Wow, when I started reading the second paragraph of his quote, I thought the quote had ended and you were just making fun of him. Holy shit, somebody would really say something like that.

I think he really believes the majority of people actually liked his first album...

Well, if there is one person in the music industry who thinks they're a gift to the world, make no mistake, it is Tom Delonge.

Wow, Tom DeLonge really IS egotistical, isn't he. Talking about how he thought that last album of his revolutionized modern rock; pah! Agree with otisbum's statement.

Goddammit. Tom Delonge should only be allowed to sing about toilet humor.

Goodness me. I kind of like A&A and I love Blink 182, but seriously, he needs to shut the hell up. It pains me to read this bullshit.

Yes Tom, we all know that the most revolutionary albums were over-hyped by their respective artists....

someone got the news topic title a little wrong. if you substitue the word "follow-up" for the word "bullshit," it reads much better.
