Industrial metal band Skrew have returned with their first new album in seventeen years, Universal Immolation. The album was actually released digitally on July 4th, 2014.

Skrew was formed in 1990 in Austin, Texas, by Adam Grossman and Danny Lohner. The band rose from the ashes of crossover thrash band Angkor Wat, of which Grossman and Lohner were members.

I know it's kind of old, but it wasn't reported here (or just about anywhere else). Nice return to form with some modern post metal/doom tendencies.

It's pretty awesome. I don't think anything will ever touch their debut, but this comes close.

Thanks. I added it to the news article. I loved their debut and their second album wasn't bad either. They lost the winning formula on the last two, though. This brings back that dark, oppressive nature and pushes the sound into the modern era.

The track is awesome, I've been listening it for the past 20 minutes on repeat.

On another note, there's a lot of stuff issued during the current year that flew under the radar, for example the new Khonsu EP, which I found out by accident.

Yeah, I just stumbled across a new NeraNature album (the solo work of the female singer from black metal band Darzamat). I was just going through Spotify and searching for bands that I already have in my iTunes collection. That's how I found the Skrew album too -- also new, unknown to me, releases by Sucre, The Chant, and The Honey Trees.
