I like the form and vocals, not huge on the guitar tone. Will definitely be giving this album a listen when it comes out though.

I agree with the guitar tone comment. The solo section is kinda cool, I think, and it's better than anything off their last two records. Not great though.

Man his screams have decayed quite a bit over the years. He has never been a great vocalist but he sounded pretty solid on Deathgrip. Song is alright.

Sounds a bit too much like current metalcore bands, like Memphis May Fire, etc (tons of chugging into a forced, clean-sung chorus) which is what I was afraid of. I miss the melodeath-influenced riffs. At least the chorus still sounds like the Atreyu I like

I like the idea behind the song, but I find this just as cringeworthy as Five Finger Death Punch's "No One Gets Left Behind" with all the "oorahs" and "hut hut".

As someone who used to be a big fan and still loves The Curse, Death Grip, and Lead Sails....I'm waiting to form an opinion on this. Listened to the song once. That's all I'll say for now. If you want to pre-order my opinion send me your credit card number and pin number and your full name. Social security card is optional but I will use, I mean, accept that too.

I don't know how to feel about this. It's not "bad" but it's not the mid-2000's anymore so this kind of simple metalcore has already been played out SO hard....but the solo made me nostalgic.

also holy shit was the vocalist this bad at screams on the curse? Reminds me of their early chicken squak

Alex screaming was never really good, and they seem more forced here than usual. but God was his singing worse. Hopefully he just sticks to screams only this time around. This still sounds better than anything off their last two albums.

I'll definitely pirate the new album

Apparently this is the meaning behind the song.

"'So Others May Live' is inspired by one of my best friends, who is ex-military. The things our troops go through to protect us are pretty unreal. Their treatment after leaves a lot to be desired, as well. The song honors them and condemns our government's constant deployment of these brave souls. The people who fight and die for us often come from a certain socio-economic background — the working class. The people making these decisions to send our nation's children to war come from positions of privilege and wealth; their kids aren't the ones getting deployed and they aren't risking their lives every day at work. Yet they order the working class to go 'keep us safe' at the drop of a hat, it feels like. It's bullshit. It's the politicians and the rich of this country waging war to keep the majority pre-occupied, so they can make money and advance their bullshit political agendas. The expense is 'expendable' working class/poor Americans' lives, never the rich."
