Lantlos: New Album, Single

2014-02-27 by zaruyache | 38 Comments
German black metal band Lantlos have finally released more details concerning their long-
awaited upcoming album, Melting Sun. According to the band's official Facebook page,
the new record is set for a May 2nd release via Prophecy Productions.

The band also released the cover artwork for the record, made by Pascal Hauer, as well as
its first single, "Melting Sun I: Azure Chimes," which can be streamed below.

This will be the group's first record without french vocalist Neige (of Alcest fame) since
2010's critically acclaimed .neon, with main songwriter Herbst opting to do vocal
duties himself from now on.

The album can be preordered from both Prophecy Productions, as well as from the band's own
Big Cartel page.

The album art, both web stores, and new single are linked below.

Deafheaven is a good band :3

I'm really excited for this album, though, screams or no screams.
(Spoiler: there are no harsh vocals on Melting Sun)

I mean this isn't bm but yeah

yeah agreed but i still probably wont like any BM from this year so ill just stick by that

that being said i am just a tiny bit skeptical about this having no harsh vocals. the music will be great but idk if it will be as good without those banshee wails

Really surprised how much I liked this. Need to check this out. All these comparisons to deafheaven are misplaced.

No black metal? Not even Saor, Petrychor, Falls of Rauros, Darkspace, or Agalloch? ;_;

its been years since i heard a black metal album i really loved

i spent basically 9th through 11th grade listening to exclusively black metal so its just kind of a dead thing for me now, nice to visit for nostalgia but nothing interesting left to offer

and out of all of those darkspace probably has the best chance of being good, but his albums have progressively gotten worse so you never know

I don't see why people are comparing this to deafheaven, makes little to no sense. Alcest's newest would be a much more apt comparison.

Still really good, just kinda disappointing to see one of my fave modern bm acts drop all the bm from their sound. Album will be good... just gonna miss dem harsh vocals and shit.

yeah maybe but at least they didn't sacrifice the thickness and heaviness like alcest did, i can live without the bm, especially if it's this good

this could turn out to be lantlos' best album yet

Last album had little black metal and it ruled, so I'm fine with a screamless Lantlos.

That heavy riff at 2:30 and that vocal melody remind me of something but I can't put my finger on
it... it sounds a lot like Alcest but I don't know where it came from. I could've heard a live
version of this song before, but I doubt it. That vocal melody at least is really similar to
something from Shelter, though.

And the riff at 4:20 sounds similar to the riff at 3:25 in Bloody Lips and Paper Skin from Agape.
Hmm...

That's probably it. I remember watching this video. Thanks!
That heavy riff/vocal melody part is still hauntingly Shelter-esque to me.
