Jim Matheos to release solo album

2014-02-04 by Voivod STAFF | 8 Comments
Jim Matheos from Fates Warning will release a new solo album in February.

The album is entitled Halo Effect and it's Matheos' first solo effort since the release of Away With Words in 1999. The album will be out on February 17 through Burning Shed Records.

Matheos commented about the new album as follows:

This is a guitar album. There are no keyboards or sound effects on this recording. All the sounds were created by an acoustic guitar (for those interested in such things, a 1973 Alvarez classical with very old strings) which has been digitally processed to varying degrees, sometimes minimally, other times until the original signal is unrecognizable. To create each piece, multiple tracks were improvised separately, without a set key or tempo. The various ideas were then edited, combined, and layered together to form these songs. I hope you enjoy them.

Whens your review of it coming? I heard Halo Effect 4, very experimental, reminds me of Scott Walker a
bit.

Back in the day, I remember Matheos saying that he would like to record an industrial album, but that vision of his was abandoned in favour of A Pleasant Shade of Grey. Judging from the video posted for Halo Effect 4, maybe this is it.
