rap has turned from a musical form of poetry to 'oo look at the black man rhyming fast. swag'
|
| |
shit sounded dope, hope he comes out with something new soon. good kid, m.A.A.d city is a classic
i liked Section.80 a lot, but the leap he made from that one to gkmc was ridiculous

IM A POT RAT. DIE FROM THE DOPE I CAN DIE ahhhhhh
whats impressive about that whatsoever?
|
| |
idk what 'swag' has anything to do with this
but yeah what's most impressive about this song is that he has good delivery
you can't have a beat like this and expect someone to go conscious over it
the lyrics on this aren't anything special but the way he presents his and his flow are what makes it sound good. hip hop is more than just lyrics my nigga
if you want good lyrics with basic flow and basic beats go listen to k rino, if you want a well rounded track watch the video again.
|
| |
pretty damn sweet. especially the latter version
|
| |
whats impressive about that whatsoever?
gnarly explained it very well, and better than me, because my response was just to assume you don't fully appreciate hip hop
|
| |
that verse he did with robin thicke is one of his best rapped verses despite the awful lyrics so yeah
|
| |
he did a verse with robin thicke...?
|
| |
never denied he has insane delivery, its partly that fact in itself that makes him a bad lyricist, though.
Interscope is killing conscious rap. Look what Interscope did to Game and Kendrick. At what point do you stop tolerating artist's who could make better music, but don't to make way more money? ...
"Verse with robin thicke is one of his best rapped verses"... sounds to me like never.
|
| |
his feature on the robin thicke song
|
| |
that beat is digusting
|

your problem is in assuming that the only good rap is "conscious" rap
|
| |
kendrick is conscious though. maybe not in this song or the ones that are radio hits but he has good lyricism and he talks about real shit. i mean obviously the lyrics in this video aren't the greatest ever but they arent bad by any stretch of the imagination. rappers dont have to rap about changing the world in every fucking song.
|
| |
"Interscope is killing conscious rap. Look what Interscope did to Game and Kendrick. At what point do you stop tolerating artist's who could make better music, but don't to make way more money? ..."
nigga there is tons of conscious rap out there. conscious rap is great but i love shit with a good trap beat too. both sides of the spectrum are good. if you are looking to hip hop and rap for lyricism alone you're doing it wrong.

|
| |
i agree man the drums are really distracting
|
| |

|
| |
"kendrick is conscious though. maybe not in this song or the ones that are radio hits but he has good lyricism and he talks about real shit."
only real shit he talked about last album was on Singing About Me/ Dying of Thirst. The rest was just a camouflage for him to brag about different shit while pretending hes not bragging about it.
"nigga there is tons of conscious rap out there." i'd love to know where, got any RECs? I like other stuff but conscious rap, but it's dead in mainstream rap as far as I can see.
