The article is unclear, but it seems she is suing for 16% of ALL revenue earned by the band as part of the revenue sharing agreement that was in place when Layne was alive, so not just the royalties on the back catalog. It seems like she's trying to stake a claim to the AiC name in general and not just the contributions Layne made to it. I could be wrong though. The article is really muddled.

i looked at some other articles, and it said she's suing for royalties on the albums on which layne wrote/performed. she's not looking for royalties for anything they've done since he died.

But the band says that Layne's heirs (which I think is only her) will continue receiving royalties from Layne's work. So I don't understand what the conflict is about. The operative lines (I think) are:

"McCallum claims she’s owed half of all monies due her son, which amounts to around 16 percent of Alice In Chains’ income. "

"Members Sean Kinney and Jerry Cantrell put forth that the financial arrangement between Staley and the band ended with his death."

"According to documents, Alice in Chains has attempted to settle up with McCallum to the tune of $341,000, and that Staley’s heirs would continue to receive royalties from songs he was directly involved in writing."
