The Black Keys enter studio

2013-01-07 by iGuter | 43 Comments
The Black Keys planned to release a new album by the end of 2013, but now in recent developments, guitarist-singer, Dan Auerbach announced to Mojo that they are entering the studio this week to begin work on their eighth studio album.

His statement follows, “We’re going to start making the new album in the second week of January and we’re hoping to have it done by some time in March. Then we have a couple of weeks of touring, then we’re going to take the summer off, which we haven’t done for a while. The record isn’t written yet, we’ll do it when we get into the studio. This is when we both work best, when we’re dying to make an album. All of our records take place in the studio, in that we make stuff up while we’re there.”

Awwwwww yeah. Last album wasn't as good as Brothers to me, here's to hoping they return to form on this album.

Nice. But I'm still pissed that they're playing shows with the Flaming Lips and not coming to Colorado.

While the band's earlier material is gold, I haven't been a fan of their most recent albums, but I am still curious to hear this one.

The biggest difference between their new stuff and old is that they added a lot more instrumentation and glossier production. Musically they've pretty much always played the same style.

^ Pretty much. They're overplayed as fuck now but they're still a good band.

They actually aren't happy that they released their music on commercials, the one sell out move they regret. Their music has only gotten larger still

Yeah, that seems to be the general view from what I've seen/heard on Sputnik. Also, a lot of "band sucks now."

I'll give Rubber Factory a try then, Demi.

I think Henchman said it best when he said that they sound pretty much the same now as they did 10
years ago, but with glossier production.

If you cant handle that then gtfo.

Side note: going to see them live in May.

Would be a plausible argument if their new music was any good. But it's not. Thus "selling out" is a non-sequitur--you're the first user who's used those words anyway.

So mad they didn't play any Rubber Factory live. Brothers I loved, El Camino was alright. But their earlier work is undeniably better.
