Reznor Confirms New NIN Album

2012-11-09 by breakingthefragile | 70 Comments
The past few months have seen industrial music superstar Trent Reznor as quite the busy bee, announcing his involvement in many projects such as him teaming up with Beats by Dre to produce a secretive new product, composing the score for the video game Call Of Duty: Black Ops II, and promoting an upcoming EP from his post-Nine Inch Nails group How to Destroy Angels.

Amid all this news, Reznor has also let it slip that the first new work since 2008 from his most famous project Nine Inch Nails is definitely on the way, telling Rolling Stone that "All signs point to yes" concerning future NIN material.

The full article can be read on Rolling Stone's website here:

@Insurrection Yeah, I was happily surprised to find out he's scoring a Cod game too, hopefully an FPs war game franchise as big as Cod is finally gonna get a soundtrack that isn't conventional and generic as well, and introduce the majority of Cod's fanbase to some real music. I was originally gonna make that a separate news article, but it's been floating around a while and I figured I could wrap it up all up in one article as well.

@silent The fact that he just confirmed that a new album is on the way doesn't qualify as new album
news?

breakingthefragile
November 9th 2012
3104 Comments

Well, let's take things one step at a time here, he's confirmed it, and that's news. And maybe you
should read the article I linked you that gave me the news before you accuse this of not being news.
I'm not gonna say EVERYTHING that's in the Rolling Stone article at all, I just wrote this article to
provide the link and a little bit of what's in it, I'm not gonna copy all the info, that would be
pointless. Read the damn article, he makes several statements like: "Yeah, there will be new music.
There are some things in the works." and, "there will be a place for stuff that falls in the Nine Inch
Nails column of things." I don't know how you can call stuff like that "vague".

Bottom line is, this is way more than him just hinting at it, or saying that it might possibly maybe be happening, it's actually him saying yeah it's on its way.

Well, I did, there's not much more I really could have summarized. If you read the article, you'd know that, but whatever, I didn't write this to even be a summary, I wrote this to say a few things and then provide the link to the actual article which says it better than I ever could.

"All signs point to yes" might as well mean a year or so. "The Slip" was okay, generally consisting of typical NIN melodies and not bringing anything new to the table, except for "Lights In The Sky", this track is awesome. But Reznor was never a good melodist, he's a crafty soundscaper with a flair for catchy hooks. Most of NIN songs sound pretty similar, though they almost never totally suck.
