Remastering doesn't strictly imply a record's age. For example, Death Magnetic should be remastered; it's only a few years old. Yes, many old records get remastered, but that's because generally speaking, older material needs to be optimised for CD from the original format, like tape, which has different characteristics that may not translate effectively.
One can remaster anything. New or old. I'd say that there isn't a great deal of difference here, unless he desired them to actually sound different in which case, the term remastering has validity.

I'm not sure what The Weeknd defines as "remastering" but there was a new (and official) version of "Wicked Games" floating around that some people labelled as "remastered"...

I think this version of Rolling Stone is different. It's subtle but his voice is smoother and edited differently in places. and the electronic sounds at the beginning and end are less harsh. Sounds better imo

a) is this a box set containing 3 CDs with individual cases, one for each mixtape with the original
artworks
b) if not, why not?
c) is this gonna contain one CD with 30 songs? cos that would be shit
d) why is he remastering them? they're great as they are
e) how are the new songs gonna fit in with this 3x9track thing that worked so well
f) when the fuck is it actually being released cos I've seen 3 different release dates
