McGregor To Play Cobain?

2007-01-19 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 15 Comments
Ewan McGregor is among a number of candidates being considered for the character role in a film adaption of Kurt Cobain's life.

England's Daily Express newspaper quotes an unnamed source saying, "A number of actors have been talked about (for) the role but Ewan has emerged as the number one choice." Few details are known about the production to date, but the late rocker's wife Courtney Love has confirmed that it's based upon the 2001 biography 'Heavier Than Heaven.'

McGregor, star of Trainspotting and the Star Wars prequel trilogy, has played a rock star before, appearing alongside Christian Bale in 1998's 'Velvet Goldmine' in a role loosely based upon Iggy Pop.

He's a pretty good actor, I guess.
Don't really think he's right for the role though.

Could work, I bet this movie will be less then great though. Intresting life, no doubt, but these types of movies usually just crash and burn.

What, did Hayden Christensen or Yoda have prior engagements? Why is Obi Wan Kenobi even being considered for playing Kurt? Ewan's a fine actor, but I think he lost all that grunge cred when he did The Island.

This is a type of movie that will either be amazing or will crash and burn horribly... I'll probably watch it either way though

McGregor is pretty good actor. But honestly who wants to watch a movie about being depressed and dating Courtney Love?
