This is heartbreaking. I love Hydrahead, they put out so many great releases. I hope they go out with a bang and re-press some of their classic Botch, Cave-In, and Daughters albums on vinyl.

fucking terrible news. just old man gloom live last week, turner put on a great show and everyone was snapping up the vinyl that was on sale...

I didn't know they had THAT many great bands!..... sucks....

Not a huge fan of the label really but its always sad when something like this happens

hard to believe. beyond releasing quality stuff, the label itself was really an icon for other
independent labels...this news really makes me wonder just how long it will be before they shutter
their doors as well. pretty terrible to hear it's financially motivated as well...hydra head is
relatively big within their niche market and their releases (especially vinyl pressings) consistently
sell out ridiculously fast. even half the stuff on their webstore now is sold out. as has been said
before, a sad day for independent labels everywhere...

Don't know many other bands on that label other than botch, but it's always a said day when opportunities for other bands shut down.

not for many people it wasn't. I actually got offered a job there by a friend of Turner when I was 16. most of their stuff I own, I supported them any way I could. after the Pelican EP came out I was with them. sucks for Turner and all of the people who worked there. yeah cheap merch is nice but damn this is one of the worst fucking blows to modern metal music now, a lot more are gonna fold soon enough. this is so much worse than you all think it is. Southern Lord better help pick up the slack.

As much as I love this label's music, they really did tend to be a bit overpriced. I mean even now its like $21 for Botch's Anthology of Dead Ends, which is like what, a 5 song ep? I always wanted to buy things from their site in the past that were either sold out due to limited pressings or just over my budget. I always thought they made it a little too easy for the ebay/amazon flipping types.

Prime numbers are what is left when you have taken all the patterns away. I think prime numbers are like life. They are very logical but you could never work out the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them
