Sweet cant wait.
|
| |
Nice; I'm sure it'll be solid.
|
| |
I really liked their last album, so I'm pretty excited to hear their next.
|
| |
Love the album art, excited for a single to come out now.
|
| |
Artwork is awesome
|
| |
Might be cool.
|
| |
Last album wasn't their best, but I still enjoyed it. If they can get close to Cities I'll be a happy mofo.
|
| |
Stephen Christian says it'll be the best since Cities so I bet it'll be rad
|
| |
hope it doesn't suck as hard as their last two
|
| |
"If they can get close to Cities I'll be a happy mofo."
yeah basically
|
| |
Absolutely love the artwork.
I enjoyed Dark is the Way...., but I'd love if they'd be able to top Cities.
|
| |
Anberlin and Coheed in the same month?
Today was a good day in news.
|
| |
It will rule.
|
| |
niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
|
| |
that's only the partial artwork
|
| |
Anberlin and Coheed in the same month?
Gonna review both.
|
| |
Ew
|
| |
so excited.
|
| |
Mixed emotions about this. Should be good but could be bad
|
| |
Last album was a bit too slow and dark. Not to say it was bad, but I hated it until a few listens. Certainly a grower.
Needs to be Cities, basically. And more pop doesn't hurt. NTFP is a guilty pleasure of mine.
|
| |
I liked all of their last 3 albums, including Dark is the Way.
I'd like to see a blend of NTFP and New Surrender, because I don't think they have another Cities in them...
|
| |
saw an interview lately where they said member x wrote most of cities, member y wrote most of new surrender, member z wrote most of ditwliap, and member x wrote most of vital
|
| |
That means nothing to me. Each album has been a step down since cities. (this is coming from someone who has them all rated a 4 or higher though)
|
| |
gonna rule
|
| |
cities or everglow?
|
| |
theyve got their first 3 albums in that anthology thing for £8.50 on play.com mp3 download. should i get it?
|
| |
latest album was their best yet
|
| |
I'M SO EXCITED THEY'RE MY FAVORITE BAND EVER
|
| |
meh, Dark Is the Way kinda signaled Anberlin finally burning out, it didn't stick nearly as much.
BUT
They have their old producer back so that could be something =)
|
| |
There's always some bit of hope left.
|
| |
very true Lakes very true, but that album did have the songs "Disappear" and "Burn Out Brighter", so it left something of a mark
|
| |
Most recent two albums are still awesome they just lacked replay value. Albums 1-3 rule so hard though
|
| |
Agreed, energetic Anberlin generally rules. Although *fin will always be my favorite song of theirs.
|
| |
wait, already?
|
| |
"*fin is definitely their best song"
I pretty much did nothing for a whole day but listen to that song.
|
| |
Shitty artwork. Dark is the way had great art but not so great songs. Cities was their only truly great album, so we'll see
|
| |
2012 just won't stop will it? I will be stoked if they make an album half as good as Cities.
|
| |
Excited, I want another Cities.
|
| |
Dark is the way wasn't that bad, but if they mix NTFP and Cities though...I will be a very happy panda
|
| |
Dark Is The Way was pretty good imo
|
| |
I loved ditw, liap. The vocals and drums were extraordinary
|
| |
Cities 2 plz
|
| |
*fin makes me cream so hard. Heard it live and it was surreal
|
| |
Dark is the Way was good but the lyrics were god-awful. I hope the're gonna be better this time.
|
| |
Will rule
|
| |
They've never had a bad album, so I'm not worried about this one. New Surrender is underrated in my opinion. And Dark is the Way is probably my favorite after Cities.
|
| |
New Surrender is easily their worst. Doesn't make it bad but doesn't make it underrated either. It gets hate cause it's their worst. I agree though dark might be second for me too it's close to friendship
|
| |
For me it's tied with Blueprints for their worst. I just think it gets too much hate, although it's definitely near the bottom of their albums.
|
| |
I can see how most wouldn't like Blueprints, but since it was their debut and I loved them right when it was out, it holds too much value to be worse than NS for me
|
| |
I don't dislike Blueprints even a little. None of their material is below a 4 for me, probably.
|
| |
I agree with Phideaux. Blueprints is probably my least favorite Anberlin album, but even that's a 4. I actually really like New Surrender. I'd rank it above DITW, but that seems to be a pretty unpopular opinion. Either way, I'm beyond excited for this since Anberlin is my favorite band.
|
| |
whoop whoop
|
| |
New Surrender consisted entirely of retreads of ideas from their first three albums, and really badly executed pop songs...
and Dark is the Way was, for me at least, a trainwreck. The band hinges on Stephen's lyrics, and boy were they lacking in that album.

Yes
"and Dark is the Way was, for me at least, a trainwreck. The band hinges on Stephen's lyrics, and boy were they lacking in that album."
No

This was pretty much spot on but I think New Surrender was actually a good pop album.

Recycled ideas? Sure. Badly executed songs? Not at all.
|
| |
"Recycled ideas? Sure. Badly executed songs? Not at all."
1. The Resistance is roughly The Feel Good Drag (original)
2. Breaking is roughly Adelaide
3. Blame Me Blame Me is a better version of There Is No Mathematics
4. Retrace is just meh
5. Feel Good Drag remake does not deserve to exist. Cutting out ONE scream at the song's emotional high point? Unforgivable.
6. Disappear is super bland
7. Breathe is a bastardized version of Unwinding Cable Car
8. Burn Out Brighter is boring...and oddly reminiscent of a Switchfoot song called Burn Out Bright...
9. Younglife is dull and passionless
10. Haight Street belongs on their first album
11. Soft Skeletons was the band's worst song until Art of War came out
12. Miserabile Visu was overly long, and had nowhere near the emotion of ANY of their three preceding albums' closing tracks.
So yeah, every song that wasn't a retread was poor.
As for Dark Is The Way...Art of War is the prime example of shoddy lyrics (and shoddy everything really) but there's literally nothing else worth writing home about except Down in the lyrics department.
/end rant
|
| |
beating out Soft Skeletons by a nose, I kid you not
|
| |
Those song comparisons made me lose all hope that your opinions would have any sort of value. Breathe is an uplifting ballad with acoustic guitar. It MUST be a ripoff of The Unwinding Cable Car. The Resistance is The Feel Good Drag in...what way? Because it's a heavy-ish song? Soft Skeletons is one of the most powerful songs on the album. Disappear is great. Stephen Christian's vocal delivery on Miserabile Visu is full of emotion. The song's longevity only improved its polarizing effect. Its purposely slow and brooding to pull the listener in, causing them to focus on Christian's lyrics.
Also, Art of War is one of the best songs on DITWLIAP. I officially hate you and every single opinion you possess towards this album.
|
| |
Art of War...wasnt that the one with the ONLY catchy chorus in Dark is the Way?
|
| |
Art of war is good! One of the best off the last album.
