What a twist of irony...
At the beginning of Queensryche, Tate was hired by the rest of the band.
And now Tate is literally banished from the rest of the band.
|
| |
Dammit, it's sad they had to end up like this.
|
| |
Band needs to die.
|
| |
Sad news, but in my humble opinion they should have ended after Chris departure.
|
| |
MAYBE?
|
| |
This sucks but their last album was absolutely terrible.
|
| |
I'm Ron Burgundy?
|
| |
Cool, maybe Tate and Degarmo can form new band now. Haha, yeah right.
That's pretty stupid if they really were talking about throwing Tate out of the band. I don't care what he did. His voice is the only thing keeping the band alive (through live performances of their old material) and I can't see how the rest of the band could think otherwise.
|
| |
Should've done what that other guy did a week or so ago. Find out the band was gonna fire him so instead he fired the whole band.
|
| |
Poor Willie : (
|
| |
Damn, is this how they are really going to disband? What a shame. Not sure what has gotten into Tate. Queensryche was the first band to get me into music. So many memories watching their music videos on VHS over and over. Still consider them my all time favorite.
|
| |
"Not sure what has gotten into Tate."
It's pretty obvious if you heard Dedicated to Chaos... He doesn't give a crap about the band
"formed a new band named Rising West. Vocal duties will be undertaken by Crimson Glory singer Todd La Torre."
+1
"re rehearsing material from the first five Queensryche albums"
+12345
|
| |
They only have a few decent albums anyway :S
|
| |
I just can't be sad.
|
| |
Since Promise they haven't been anything special, they had fantastic albums and better times but their only decent effort since 1994 was American Soldier.
Anyways, is something sad
|
| |
Oh shit is it 1987 or something? I don't really care.
|
| |
Queensryche needs to be put down like an old cat. Hardly graceful and not reflective of its former glory, it's just an embarrassment now. Shocked at their decision to form this 'Rising West' band, considering the most iconic aspect of their sound was Tate's voice. Definitely flogging a dead horse, let's hope they don't taint the legacy of the band any further than they already have.
|
| |
oh well
|
| |
Rip what a tragic accident
|
| |
This is funny.
|
| |
thank god
|
| |
FUCK
|
| |
Well at least they finished with their masterpeice...
|
| |
They will always be remembered for Operation Mindcrime... The worlds worst album cover lol
|
| |
Lemony Snicket Strikes Back

In a group, any group (and not only in music...) when all your co-workers converse and conspire against you, then chances are there's something wrong with you rather than your co-workers.
IMO, it took huge balls for the rest of the band members to do what they did...
As much as I hate saying what I'm about to say, band needs to die, for better or for worse.
The news section is turning into TMZ it appears
Where there's smoke, there's fire Xeno.
The source article was stating other things that happened too but not confirmed whatsoever - very bad things which I won't quote in here... - so I left them out of this news item (I don't think TMZ would omitted what I omitted from the primary source......), but I don't find it so unreal that the rest of the band conversed in secret to throw Tate out of Queensryche.
It has happened numerous times in several bands.
Lemony Snicket Strikes Back
haha thanks for the reminder, indeed this film came to mind after I finished writing this piece, however I couldn't remember its name.
|
| |
What the hell?
|
| |
rip
|
| |
I think Willie is the last person left on earth who still likes these guys hahahaha.
|
| |
I'm a fan of the band too Wizard, their first five albums are epic, but the band has to go six feet under.
Sad but true.
|
| |
--I think Willie is the last person left on earth who still likes these guys hahahaha.--
Did you see my review of their last album or my opinion of all their albums after Promised Land (except for American Soldier)? Geoff Tate is a cancer on the band. He has turned it into his own personal solo act. The best thing they could have done is get rid of him.

Says everything there is to say.
|

^ LOL. Tragik video.

|
| |
Noooo! Now we will never hear the followup to their latest masterpiece with Tate singing.
|
| |
Glad to hear they're changing it from "It's wot we do" to "It's wot that guy did."
|
| |
"It's pretty obvious if you heard Dedicated to Chaos... He doesn't give a crap about the band"
Yeah, I guess that's pretty evident.
|
| |
I read somewhere that Tate attacked one of the guitar players with a knife in a south american show lol
|
| |
Lol, yeah. I saw that when looking up info on this. Pretty crazy. Still, he (allegedly) did that because he caught them plotting to get rid of him.
Replacing him with this singer who is an exact imitation is lame. Do these guys think they're Journey or something? I don't think it'll be quite as successful.
|
| |
Now the band are being denied access to their official website and Facebook page:
http://legacy.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=175031
|
| |
Wait what
|
| |
Jesus christ, he sounds just like Tate!
|
| |
Well, I don't know why they'd think that it would be ok to basically promote "come see Queensryche live...except with a new, better singer" on the official Queensryche page. If it was a real side-project/band where they played original music, then sure. Can't blame Tate for blocking them.
|
| |
Where does it say that Tate blocked them? That would be some heavy ruckus
|
| |
Well who else would block them from their own site?
|
| |
His solo stuff is plastered all over the Official Site and Facebook and he plays QR songs at his solo shows too. Why does he have control over a band asset?
|
| |
If he owns the legal rights to the band's name, he can control all band assets.
|
| |
Yeah. And him playing some acoustic versions of his band's songs during his live set is very different from what these guys are doing. His solo material and Queensryche have always been two separate things. They're more or less billing Rising West as a revival of the classic (aka "good") Queensryche. That's damaging to the actual Queensryche name. Even in it weren't Tate in charge, I can't see any type of management supporting that.
|
| |
QR suck now. How much can they damage the name? This is giving people hope.
|
| |
Queensryche without Tate isn't even Queensryche. With that said, band licks dick now. That last album they had was Lol-worthy. Todd La Torre is awesome though so Rising West could be decent.
|
| |
oh throw me a fucking bone
|
| |
"Queensryche" is officially dead.
http://www.billboard.com/news#/news/exclusive-queensryche-parts-ways-with-geoff-1007371752.story
|
| |
Aso post this as news item.
|
| |
Yeah....predictable ending for the greatest prog metal band of the 80's.
|
| |
The news item says that Queensryche continue as Queensryche with a new singer.
|
| |
Haha. Yeah, I know. That's why I put "Queensryche" in quotes. Good luck to them, but I'm sorry. Bands replace members all the time, sure. But when you've already lost your lead guitarist/main songwriter and have now gotten rid of your lead vocalist/main lyricist...you are not the same band.
I can't even bring myself to type that they are continuing as Queensryche so you can make the news article if you want, Voivod.
|
| |
Oh well...The band was already dead without Chris...now without Tate...
|
| |
Exactly.
|
| |
I'm willing to bet that this new Queensryche album will be the best since Promised Land.
Everyone always says that the band failed without DeGarmo while neglecting to remember that he steered them towards destruction on Hear in the Now Frontier before abandoning ship. Geoff just kept the course and made things worse (With the exception of the surprising American Soldier). So, I'll have no problem with calling the new Queensryche album 'Queensryche'.
|
| |
I'm with Willie on that.
|
| |
"he steered them towards destruction on Hear in the Now Frontier before abandoning ship."
You're right Willie, that album was a bad move, everybody knows that, but I believe you agree that Chris was Queensryche's heart and soul (with Tate of course).
|
| |
"So, I'll have no problem with calling the new Queensryche album 'Queensryche'."
Well, same here but it's just not the same.
Do you have a problem with calling a new Maiden album "Maiden" without Harris?
|
| |
I believe that Chris and Tate were Queensryche's heart and soul, but when they lost their heart and soul Chris eventually did the right thing and stepped down while Tate kept faking it. I'm willing to hear what the rest of the band can do.
|
| |
--Do you have a problem with calling a new Maiden album "Maiden" without Harris?--
Not a Maiden fan, so it doesn't phase me.
