AAF Rocks Out @ Rehearsals.com 2006-12-20 by Jom | 2 Comments | Rehearsals.com is a site that's rather self-explanatory - it features bands and artists rehearsing at the CenterStage studio in California.
Recently, Alien Ant Farm paid a trip to the Rehearsals.com studio and played "Whisper," "Bad Morning," "Movies," "Forgive & Forget," and a jam session discussing the acoustic "She's Only Evil."
In the clips, viewers can see the band working out the kinks with new bassist Alex Barreto Hill is a seasoned guitar player and was extremely familiar with the band before, whereas Barreto went from playing hardcore and punk to the more rock-oriented style of Alien Ant Farm, and the other members - especially drummer Mike Cosgrove - help him with the basslines.
Says Barreto:
These guys have a lot of songs. I'm freshly up and partying with these boys with their music. And for me, it's a good time because they have a lot of good songs to choose from. They're being really patient and being really cool about the process. They're being cool about the way I learn the songs. They're not shoving it down my throat. ... So it's been awesome to get to play the songs that I already know, and I have a long way to go.
On the experience, frontman Dryden Mitchell says:
I hope fans that do see us on rehearsals.com come and see us in a live environment. This was a lot of fun. It was unique and different for us. We've never done anything like this. This is a different medium, and it's awesome. I'd love to do it again.
Added Mike Cosgrove:
I saw some of the stuff that you guys had done before with other artists, and they're working on things. We just came out of writing a record and we're pretty set on what we're trying to do. So our rehearsals are pretty set as far as just running through the set and going through the songs. We had just done some other kinds of recordings, like acoustic styles of our songs and all that.
We were kind of messing around with things not too long ago, so it was fun. We got to jam. We got to mess around with some different things.
