Animals As Leaders new drummer

2012-03-28 by MO | 38 Comments
With an upcoming European tour on the horizon, Animals As Leaders has recruited drummer Matt Garstka to replace the now departed Navene Koperweis. In a recent interview Koperweis stated that he is moving on to other aspects of music saying that he has been behind the drum kit for too long and needs to chase other aspirations.

I'm actually really bummed about this. New guy seems good, but I doubt he'll have the same energy that Navene did.

Listened to the new album and wasn't really enthralled or anything... add to that the fact that they were only so-so live. I've kind of lost faith in this band, and this doesn't really change anything.

Don't really see a new drummer affecting anything, really.

Navene is one of my favorite drummers, in one of my favorite bands no less...but the new guy is insanely good too, so no worries. I'm just kinda sad that he's leaving to join the already over-saturated DJ/electronic producer scene...oh well.

Idk how technically skilled their bassist is, but some of the bass lines are bamf

I'm interested to see what his future projects are. I'm guessing he is a multi instrumentalist? He is a legit drummer though.

AaL doesn't have a bassist, they have tosin, Javier Reyes (another 8 string guitarist), and their drummer

Is "Javier Reyes" the name of a character from Red Dead Redemption?

Navene is a great drummer, new guy is sick as well. It's all about Tosin, though.
