mewithoutYou Album Details

Indie-rock/post-hardcore group mewithoutYou, have announced the name of their new album, entitled Ten Stories. Previously referred to as "5," the album is the band's first since their 2009 It’s All Crazy! It’s All False! It’s All A Dream! It’s Alright.
It is has been hinted at that Ten Stories will be "an allegorical collection of songs that, at first listen, follows a winding narrative about a circus train crash in 19th century Montana." The album is slated for a May 15th release.

In regards to artwork, the band has yet to fully unveil the cover of their new album, saying the following:
Quote:
The cover art for Ten Stories, which will be revealed through puzzle pieces on the band’s Facebook page over the course of the next week, was illustrated by artist Vasily Kafanov, who also created the artwork for The Smashing Pumpkins’ Machina album. Additional pieces of art by Kafanov will be included in the album layout and an individual illustration of each song will be featured in the deluxe vinyl booklet.
Tracklist:
February 1878
Grist for the Malady Mill
East Enders Wives
Cardiff Giant
Elephant in the Dock
Aubergine
Fox’s Dream of the Log Flume
Nine Stories
Fiji Mermaid
Bear’s Vision of St. Agnes

I liked It's All! Change of direction, but they needed it, and they did it well. No complaints.

I've seen them live since, and I can tell you, the new material sounds a lot like Brother, Sister. Aaron is more intense than ever. I'm very excited for this.

@Captain North: Did you see that video they posted a while back? Just listen to February 1878, they're going away from It's All... and back into the Catch Us For The Foxes sound.

This is one of my favorite bands but I really hope they ditch the christian campfire songs like in "It's All Crazy.." They are capable of so much more. I'm optimistic though!

This will be better than the rather boring "It's all crazy..."! February 1878 / January 1979.
And the similarity to "Catch For Us The Foxes" is really present here. Back to old roots! Nice one.

"I legitimately think based on what they've said so far and live videos that this is going to be their best album yet."

It's not my favourite of theirs, but it's still great. The chorus of "Elephant in the Dock" could have been a lot better, and a little bit of the album feels like filler. Basically, what I think everyone will come to conclude when they hear it is: second half of the album >>>>>>>> first half of the album. The first half seems a lot more poppy in that the choruses are insanely infectious, and the latter half seems more atmospheric. Fox's Dream of the Log Flume is easily the best song on the album, in my opinion. "Nine Stories" has very gentle percussion, a faintly heard accordion (or so it sounds), and an absolutely gorgeous guitar melody, but Weiss' vocals are somewhat grating at times.
