It's really a shame to think how revered these guys used to be and now they are the butt of everyone's jokes.

well I heard hate train and it sucks, no thanks

so between this release and that of death magnetic was sorta like taking a dump: you sit down and go to work on it and you get the nice big satisfying turds but then you gotta sit there and wait patiently for the little guys to pass along too, even though you know they're there and ready to go in the first place. and when it's over it all smells the same and sorta leaves a bad taste in your mouth

I don't think they need to retire but I do think they need to maybe stop using the Metallica franchise for clearly non Metallica releases. History is full of famous side projects and solo releases. A group needs to know when they are fucking up their own legacy and when to stop.

It's decent. Not bad for a collection of songs that DIDN'T make it onto the already okay Death Magnetic. You can't set the bar so freaking high. No one, not even Black Sabbath, has has that kind of Classic consistency. Give them a break!

I can't forgive them for their decisions lately. Lulu then a collection of songs they scraped together? It seems like they are doing anything to make money.

i have not heard this yet, but just about every band that is around for any significant amount of time puts out some type of release, be it an album or ep, with unreleased tracks on it. yet when metallica does it, everyone gives them a ton of grief. i could list bands that have also done this but that is not worth my time. also it sucks that people will link everything else they do to lulu. it sucked, but it was not a metallica album. the next metallica album will not come close to that i guarantee it. anyway, i hate haters.

Lulu isn't a Metallica album. It's a Lou Reed album where Metallica played the instruments. Yeah, they are doing damage control, but it's because of stupid people freaking out over them working with a former legend on his next album and it's beyond rediculous. It's not a money grab, they are trying to make fan relationships a little better by giving them something to hold them over till the next Metallica album. Don't get your panties up in a bunch.

Hate Train was good so I will check this out ,sadly lulu was a piece of crap so my expectations are too low.

This wouldn't be so bad is there was any inspiration in the drumming AT ALL. I suck at the drums but could write better parts than Lars did. Garbage.

I am really disappointed that they could not have just stuck with this. I really liked DM and Lulu was the worst. If they only did this I may not have lost all hope for them.

At least we knew for sure that it'll be better than lulu because nothing could be worse than that except Etienne Sin/Jordan Blake's 'The Leader The Legend'. That must be voted worst album in history. Besides Metallica was no longer cool without Cliff Burton. With the exceptions of 'One' and 'Blackened' imo as far as I can remember.
