Oasis Take Over Radio 6

2006-11-17 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 5 Comments
UK digital radio subscribers will be able to tune in to a full day of music selected by Oasis next month, as part of BBC 6 Music's annual 'Music Selecter' day.

According to NME.com, the band will take over the airwaves on December 12, a promising treat for fans who are that Noel Gallagher's taste in music has far outstripped his own recorded output in recent years. Radiohead were the first Selectors in 2003, followed by Manic Street Preachers in 2004, and Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs in 2005.

Confirmed selections include the Sex Pistols, the Kinks and Amy Winehouse, while Gallagher has commissioned Merseysiders the Coral, band favourites and frequent touring partners, to record a special track for the event at his studio in Manchester.

In a typically expletive-ridden interview with BBC DJ Steve Lamacq (who also has great taste in music), brother Liam added: "I want to be bigger. I imagined we'd be a lot bigger than we are. I think there's a fuckin' genius album around the corner."

Oasis release their first-ever greatest hits compilation worldwide next week.
