Agree very much with PT and PoS but perhaps not Opeth... Watershed and, probably, Heritage, might break that a little. Tool are awesome. Bands do forget that nowadays.

Aenima is one of my favourite albums ever, and Lateralus is pretty great too, but i dont get the mounds of hype

I like Tool and I don't think I am a shitty fan. I think they're one of the best progressive acts out there but I realize the unfortunate ineptitude of most of this band's fanbase.

Apparently Maynard is more involved in the writing process this time around, I'm hoping that doesn't mean a technical tonedown. Still psyched

Haha, wankery/no wankery. It's a bit ridiculous to call Tool bad musicians - they enjoy their rhythm, so a lot of times the g/b/d's are all focused on it. It reflects the songs, IMO, and the lyrics. It's hard for me to point to a Tool song (be it one of their sardonic ones or one of their serious affairs) where the music and the lyrics don't match up thematically well. They are not the best rock band in the world, but, with their personal lives/attitudes aside, they make some of the best atmospheric rock songs ;)

Tool was a very important band in my musical development, but I really can't say I'm excited for this. Maybe I'd be a LITTLE excited if it was to be released this year. But a year away? idc

2. Love it that whenever someone displays a healthy enthusiasm or a passion for an artist, they are labelled a 'fan boy', which I must assume is a deadly insult on this site, and one to be avoided at all costs.

3. Also cautiously optimistic for this album. Tool have not disappointed me yet, and they have been making music since before I even attended my first educational institute. My favourite albums are definitely Ænima and Lateralus however, and are likely to remain so. I just feel they are some of the greatest albums ever made by any band, really. Fine if you disagree, but I can't help but feel you're missing out, in the same way as if you can't find the joy in Lord of the Rings, Dune, or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I can see if you're just not into the style of music that Tool puts out.. but, they are one of the most tallented/creative rock bands to have graced our eardrums over the past 15 years. Outside of the complexity of the music, I find most of MJK's lyrics extremely moving in some of the songs.. And, 10,000 Days has some very good tracks, as well. Rosetta Stoned is probably one of the best drum composures that Danny Carey has ever put out.

16 year old me would be stoked. 22 year old me would be sceptical after the inconsistent mess of 10,000 days. 28 year old me cracks a beer, heads to the skatepark and forgets all about this news.

I know.. I don't understand the hate for 10,000 Days. Sure, it's got some filler in it, but all of Tool's albums do. Most of the tracks are very long/complex. I love to put this album on when I'm on a road trip. It sucks me in and makes the time fly.

I liked 10,000 Days enough to buy it.
