Not digging the new sound, fuck...
|
| |
This song is way harder than their old stuff but i still think its pretty excellent. I love the vocals and the guitars are aggressive and enjoyable. Hopefully the new album will have some mellow stuff like their old albums tho
|
| |
pretty boring
|
| |
Not a fan upon first listen.
|
| |
the page isn't loading for me, but given how they said they were "inspired" by Underoath's Lost in the Sea of Separation I can assume this will be devoid of all the post-rock overtones that i loved about them.
|
| |
lost in the sound of separation
|
| |
BE BACK SOON
|
| |
whatever. shows how much i like that album.
|
| |
Meh, it's... Underwhelming.
Not bad, by any means. Just underwhelming. Hopefully the rest of the album will be awesome and this is the worst song on it.
|
| |
The second half is much much better than the first half.
|
| |
just a post-hardcore band now
|
| |
^ my thoughts exactly.
i think ill just go listen to Foreword EP as I fap blood and tears
|
| |
Sounds nothing like their older stuff.
I'll have to wait for the album to judge completely though.
|
| |
Thought it did a nice job of condensing their sound into a more bite-sized piece. I like that their changing it up a bit, you can only take so much of the 10 minute build-ups before they start to get samey
|
| |
"you can only take so much of the 10 minute build-ups before they start to get samey"
I could take an infinite amount of those.
|
| |
went from unique to generic
|
| |
wasn't bad tbh. yeah, their old stuff is much better, but this is still pretty enjoyable.
|
| |
Actually, I'm quite impressed at how they've managed to still include the post-rock and indie tendencies so well. I'm digging it.
|
| |
that was moving mountains? wheres my post-rock?
|
| |
Talk shit, get hit.
|
| |
just a post-hardcore band now
^this
|
| |
such a shame
|
| |
Pneuma > Foreword?
|
| |
i thought it was pretty straight. definitely less unique. i hope they can still retain that uniqueness, but i don't necessarily mind this direciton
|
| |
went from unique to generic
these guys were never really unique, they just mashed together a bunch of (mostly) pretty similar genres for the sake of it and executed them all in the most generic manner
haven't listened yet since Facebook is blocked at my college library, so I'll listen when I get home
|
| |
oh wait it's on YouTube.
tbh I dug it more than a bunch of songs on Pnuema, I may like this. it did seem a bit generic but the vocals seemed a lot less whiney which was my biggest gripe with Pnuema besides the badly organised...everything, so I like this more straightened out sound. everything on Pnuema just seemed thrown in to me so this seems a lot better. it sounded so annoyingly simple and accessible without any of the songwriting appearing to have any kind of maturity or thought behind it. just throwing a saxaphone in where it's just not needed doesn't make your song any deeper.
but that's just me~
|
| |
i think youre willfully approaching the songwriting on pneuma as arbitrary because its unfair to even begin to assume the band threw elements of their music in cheaply or to make it seem deeper. how are you making that judgment?
give the band the benefit of the doubt
|
| |
yeah fair enough, what I said came out wrong and I should have thought that through but the songwriting on pnuema just came across to me as badly organised and a lot of things just didn't work together or make the song any better.
I guess I came to an unfair conclusion there, sorry about that.

i thought it was great how ambitious they were with their debut, which is why i'm disappointed they've been taking steps to abandon that sound ever since, but yeah i can see where you're coming from with those remarks. with the scope of what they were trying to do, i can imagine some of the less refined elements were certainly not for everyone
|
| |
I think this was probably one of the more 'accessible' tracks anyway and a bunch of the more unique bits could still be in the album. I just hope they're more refined and well placed than in Pneuma.
|
| |
I can still hear what they do, and it sounds really good. I'm sure the album will be great
|
| |
I have a feeling this is going to be one of the lighter tracks on the album. I've heard some of the new stuff live and it was HEAVY. Greg was screaming his lungs out.
|
| |
Extremely disappointing. Shit.
|
| |
sounds like they just condensed their style, it wasn't bad but it could've been better
|
| |
I thought the EP was the perfect mix of ambition from Pneuma and a tighter, little heavier packaging. This is just bland.
|
| |
What happened to the post-rock influences?
This just sounds like every other thrice wanna-be
|
| |
Foreword is one of my favorite EP's.
Maybe they're slowly cutting out the long intros and outros? I loved how they combined those with their vocal sections though... If they completely do away with those, they'll be moving hills, not mountains...
|
| |
Perhaps this is just the single or whatever. Something accessible and condensed. Hopefully the other songs will show off more of that post-rock pretty that makes me love Pneuma so much.
|
| |
love this.
