Seriously, I don't mind sounding like a fan boy. The band deserves my blind faith seeing as they haven't put out a single album short of being fantastic since "The Bends". That's a track record that's hard to beat.

2011 is shaping up to be an awesome year in music. Already I've found a bunch of obscure acts that have really surprised me, and there's new stuff from Primus, Panda Bear, DOOM, Mars Volta, and possibly Outkast coming out. Not to mention, the live shows I'm seeing (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Glassjaw, Deftones/DEP, Women, Pixies (!!!), THE FLAMING LIPS, etc)...

i almost don't believe this because it's such short notice and they haven't given this album any hype whatsoever.

@themainmast it's a similar situation to the release of in rainbows. As I recall they simply announced the album was being released and a week later the download was available.

It's a really great way of handling things. You think about it, and they have so much control over their music right now that its forcing everyone to experience albums in a manner that is almost completely phased out. Instead of some people leaking bits and pieces of the record and some people already familiar with the songs that premiered as live set pieces everyone will be forced to go in head first blind folded.

I'm just surprised they've kept things under wraps so well. Hell, they've played a handful of new songs and it's still argued whether or not these songs have a good chance of appearing on the album. Personally, I hope they don't feature these songs, and if they do, pull an "in Rainbows" and drastically overhaul them.

I think my excitement is even heightened by the fact that the band members are calling it "their best one yet". Now, I know many bands say that all the time, but I don't recall any quotes of the band saying that about any of their previous albums.

@Deviant: In the context of Sputnik being a community of reviewers, not just readers. I mean, from what I can gather from my time here I've seen just as many good reviewers who are users, as there are good staff and contributor reviewers. I think it should be an album that's fair game for any user to review. Staffers already get a good say in things (such as basically deciding what constitutes best new music, and what doesn't), and seeing as Sputnik is a community site that thrives mostly on user generated content, it wouldn't be all that fair to control the availability of an album to be reviewed based off of the assumption that users are inherently less skilled than other reviewers. Yes, there are certainly more sub-par user reviews, but that's of course because there are more users than staffers/contribs. I'm not gonna lie, I'm debating whether or not I'd like to take a crack at reviewing this thing soon after it's release, which of course makes me a little bias on the matter. But I'm certain there are other skilled users out there that would like the chance to have their work escape the shadow of staff/contributor dominated features.

But then again, it's hard to really complain. Sputnik is an interesting site. It comes off like a mix of Rateyourmusic and Pitchfork in my opinion. Very active user base used to create a large database of albums and reviews, along with an elite staff that help dictate the site's identity. I guess my point is, there really wouldn't be any reason for the mods to make this album unavailable for review until a staff member/contributor can write their review. The fact of the matter is, only the staff/contrib review will be featured and able to give away the label of "best new music". So even though I rant, it's really not a big deal. I'm just in a talkative mood.

Back to MvC3 though. NO SLEEP

The only reason it was taken down was because of idiotic troll ratings, and I was the one who reported it. If the album was continually added and then subsequently deleted by the mods because the same idiots kept 5'ing it again and again that's the users' fault. I think you misinterpreted what I said because there was truly no need to write as much as you did; as soon as the album is out the album page can remain up simple as that, it has nothing to do with staff or whether or not they are going to review it

Radiohead may be one of the only big bands who are pretty smart when it comes to the relationship between the internet and music. I mean, hell, they're huge in large part because of the internet and they've always been active with the online community. God this band is so terrible, I mean, They're too damn creative! Their inventive use of electronics in Kid A/Amnesiac totally drives me up the wall. The guitar-noise crap in OK Computer, completely awes------terrible...I can't see why anyone would give a shit about this band, or their inevitably terrible album that they are releasing this month.

I can't wait. It's gonna be awesome.
