Cold Frontman: When Nov. Falls 2006-10-22 by Jom | 2 Comments | Scooter Ward, vocalist and guitarist for Floridian hard rock act Cold, announced his desire to embark on a solo project a couple months back. Through both his personal mySpace site and through the solo project's site, Scooter has updated fans of the progress of his solo project.
Regarding the solo project itself:
The initial name for the solo project, featuring only Scooter and longtime friend and drummer Sam McCandless, was going to be 'The Witch,' but Scooter has changed it to 'When November Falls.' When asked about why he changed names, Scooter writes, I have no explanation. ''WHEN NOVEMBER FALLS'' feels right to me for this record.
[T]he new album THE SERIES OF EMOTION start[s] recording November 1st. Ironic huh?
Scooter has gradually released new material that has been unmixed or in the very early developmental stages of the songwriting process. "My Heart" was one of the first tracks released through the mySpace site, but raw, unfinished tracks including "Symphony for a Mad World" and "Let the Rain Begin" feature Scooter on just piano and a looped drum track, explaining that this is how he begins to compose and arrange tracks.
Scooter also writes that he will post video of the songwriting and recording process for fans through the two mySpace sites. While all of the tracks are essentially rough cuts, you can listen to three forthcoming tracks in extremely raw fashion ("My Heart," "Symphony for a Mad World," and "Let the Rain Begin") from the project at the two below sites:
