Amazing, even bands don't get the true concept of real emo. But on the basis of them being the "emo of today" i dont think people classify them as emo, rather poppy and mainstream as hell

I don't want to seem ignorant or anything, but honestly what is proper 'emo' ?It seems to be a term that is placed on bands pretty easily. While one person may label a band emo, another may think that they are totally opposite which makes it confusing as to what 'emo' really is. Can some one tell me please?

i really hate it when bands try to distance themselves from genres and sterotypes that they have obviously put themselves in. I remember Disturbed and Papa Roach saying the same thing about them not being nu-metal.

i don't even like real emo that much (i only have Embrace's self-titled), but as soon as i learned what it was i felt like i had to correct everyone who used the term wrong. i guess I'M the sad sack!

They're not even emo so I can see why they're getting annoyed about being labelled as it, but to declare a whole genre as bullshit... I'm not so sure on that.
