also the public schools.
|

Hope I can go this year
|
| |
Assumed this would be Australian
|
| |
deciding on whether to hit up Lollapalooza or possibly, hopefully Rothbury. But if this lineup is good, I'll be willing to drive.
|
| |
outdoor festivals suck in just about every way.
|
| |
i've always wanted to go to bonnaroo. might go if the line up is decent.
|
| |
"outdoor festivals suck in just about every way."
This comment is incorrect in just about every way.
|
| |
not really. i've been to plenty of them (pitchfork being the most reputable) over the years, and i never leave feeling satisfied.
- the sound quality is almost always shit compared to shows at indoor venues.
- there's nothing cool about spending $10 for a bottle of water.
- there's nothing fun about standing shoulder to shoulder in a sea of smelly hipsters and brodudes when it's 90 degrees.
- i don't do lsd.
|
| |
I don't know what Satellite's talking about. I went to Bonnaroo last year, best time of my life just about.
The sound quality was great, considering it was outdoors.
Water wasn't 10 bucks, it was free from water fill-up stations all over.
What's more fun than standing around with a bunch of smelly people, that don't care they're smelly, waiting for awesome bands to play?

a lot of things? hey, to each his own, though. i've never been to bonnaroo, but all i was saying is that outdoor festivals don't do it for me.
i WILL say, however, that lcd soundsystem's set at pitchfork was worth the price of admission in and of itself.
|
| |
I sure hope water is at least 20 dollars this year, maybe we can actually sit down !
Fuck giant festivals like this. They always put 20 good bands on at the same time, the sound sucks donkey shit, and people on drugs can be annoying as fuck.
|
| |
When I went to Bonnaroo in '07 the sound quality was great. Thinking about going this year. The rumoured headliners are top-notch: Radiohead, Pink Floyd (w. Gilmour), and the Lips, but these are reallllly speculative.
Zeppelin was rumoured in '07 since Plant was playing with Alison Kraus - there were so many people with Zep shirts watching Widespread Panic (the last act of the festival).
|
| |
a friend of mine went this year and said it was the best thing he's ever done in his life. i will find a way to make it to this, it's only like a 4 hour drive for me anyway. also, Jay Electronica apparently played Bonnaroo this year, i'm praying to see this happen again next year.
|
| |
'Roo rules.
|
| |
I kick myself that I missed Sasquatch and Coachella this year. Those had the best lineups I've ever seen, and The Gorge in Washington would have been the perfect settin for a festival.
|
| |
I don't know how it is everywhere else, but where I'm from (the south i.e. MS LA AL and FLA) there is a specific group of people that listen to most of these bands (i.e. Dave, KOL, Lips, etc.), and they are some of the lamest people I have ever met. That being said, I can see this being a show with like thousands and thousands of them there. And that's just shitty.
Lineup isn't that great to me and I LOL'd at Bo Burnham.
|
| |
see that's your problem.
you live in the south
|
| |
^ perhaps.
|
| |
seriously considering going to this this year
|
| |
Roo is the shit, it was packed last year in comparison to past years. The crowd is getting lamer and lamer, and the lineup is as well. hopefully there will be enough good bands to cancel out the shitty ones, and all the fraternity kids that have the new found urge to go wild. Should be interesting.

After going to Soulfest, Massachusetts Warped Tour, and a ton of other outdoor fests I can wholeheartedly agree with this, and I even had Band Access at Soulfest due to the fact my friends bands were playing and I still spent $50-$100 in just food alone over the course of 5 days.
However, I still love outside shows. Especially at night because in the hot humid summer, Venues are the WORST place to be. No air-conditioning.
|
| |
So, ISIS and the Melvins.
|
| |
i'm totally going. bonnaroo is the shit
|
| |
"see that's your problem.
you live in the south"
it's not that. i live in georgia and have experienced none of what nash said. there are stupid people that listen to every type of music, nash just focuses on the stupid people too much to enjoy festivals like Bonnaroo.
|
| |
This is literally the only good thing about living in TN.
No state income tax.
|
| |
My friends went to Bonnaroo last year and loved it... but I'm still anxiously awaiting the decision on Rothbury 2011.
|
| |
$50-$100 in just food alone over the course of 5 days isn't a bad price at all, spending that everyday would be bad. 50 bucks for 5 days would be about 3.50 a meal, I'd be suprised if the majority of people spent less at home during the work week.
|
| |
They might want to update their page listing the comedians, and not just because JB Smoove is awful and needs to be replaced. R.I.P. Greg Giraldo.
|
| |
i dk about other festivals but coachella made an effort to make water prices reasonable (fill-up stations and $1/bottle), and the food was not pricey at all.
|
| |
Need to persuade my friends to road trip to this.
|
| |
yay bots!
on another note, i have always wanted to go to this but i live like 16 hours away and teach till end of june. this would be a tough one to make
|
| |
@ whywontyoudie
it's not at all who i focus on. i think it is more of the ones that openly praise these bands. the people that walk around and act like dave matthews hung the moon are usually just lame people. that isn't to say people that like them are lame. just the fans i commonly come into contact with. that and i don't do drugs.
|
| |
Actually i live in TN and its pretty fucking rad in many ways. just saying.
|
| |
That'd be pretty cool.
|
| |
Bamboozle>Bonnaroo

This is literally the only good thing about living in TN.
Knoxville is crawling in cheap booze and great pot. Also, slutty, slutty soristitutes.
