Thornography Song Descriptions

2006-10-10 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 6 Comments
Cradle of Filth have posted track-by-track descriptions of their new album Thornography to their official website.

Cradle of Filth have dragged rock's current '80s pop obsession into the extreme metal world with the release of a cover of synth classic 'Temptation,' the first single from Thornography, due October 17 through Roadrunner Records (how long before they re-issue this one?)

'Temptation' was a major breakthrough hit for English electro-pop group Heaven 17 in 1983.

While I love how the band gave descriptions of each song, I'm confused as to why they'd release Temptation as the first single. It's a very strange song, also extremely off-putting for someone who isn't aware it's a cover. Oh well, it doesn't detract from the fact that it's a great album.

Youve heard the whole album? I know its been leaked for a while. Whats it like compare to other COF albums? I heard there was more soloing, but also that Dani's voice has suffered from all those years of harsh vox and that he cant hit the really high or really low notes anymore.

Dani's voice is as good as ever. The album has a Midian-esque sound to it, but with some melody and atmosphere reminiscent of Nymphetamine. I'd say the album is excellent; right on par with CoF is capable of. Better than Nymphetamine, but probably not as good as Damnation, which is an album I have a real soft spot for.

I've read your review Shadows on metal-archive already. Its pretty good, I'll probably get a few days after it comes out.

Dude, I love this album's synth intro. I still don't know whether it is better than Nymphetamine.
