George Galloway's Dusty musical 2010-07-08 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 11 Comments | Scottish reality TV star and left-wing politician George Galloway has turned his hand to theatre, working with journalist Ron McKay on a stage musical based on the music of Dusty Springfield.
Galloway and McKay - who is also the Scot's agent, press advisor and companion on trips to meet middle Eastern dictators - have given the project the working title Dusty. Springfield died in 1999 following a long battle with cancer.
Galloway wrote on his Daily Record blog: "The star who shines brighter than all the rest on this trip down memory lane is Dusty Springfield - as fresh today as a spring field should be. And, as it happens, one of the many projects on which I'm working - with Scots writer Ron McKay - is a stage Musical, eponymously entitled Dusty."
Galloway came to prominence in the UK as a staunch opponent of both Gulf wars, and was expelled from the Labour Party as a result of his opposition to the second offensive. He is perhaps best known today for dressing in a leotard and imitating a cat on Celebrity Big Brother.
