Save Philly DIY Shows

2010-05-18 by Brandon Scott EMERITUS | 24 Comments
Lawmakers in Philadelphia are attempting to pass a law that would appear to require promoters/venues to submit applications for licenses, contracts and security for every concert 30 days in advance. This would have an obvious negative impact on the local music scene, creating finance problems that would prevent many bands from playing.

Stakeholders in the local music scene have created a petition protesting the new law.

I can remember seeing an article in Wonka Vision nearly 10 years that was eerily similiar to this. Seems to me that Philly has got it out for DIY shows... and they have for quite some time.

Well, it's pretty good. Pennsylvania's one of the better states for hardcore, but I still prefer both Boston and Virginia.

Why the fuck does the government think they have to regulate anything?

Fuck this, I go to way too many shows in Philly. This would basically ruin everything.
