Textures Unveil New Singer

2010-03-25 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 26 Comments
Dutch heavy metal group Textures have unveiled singer Daniel de Jongh (ex- of Cilice) as their new singer, replacing Eric Kalsbeek who left earlier this year.

The band wrote: "It was really hard for us to part ways with Eric. Emotionally and musically. But Daniel gives us more than enough reasons to prolong our career, more hyped up than ever before. His experience, personality, musical taste and of course his awesome vocal skills make us see the future like a first spring morning after a severe winter-darkness."

De Jongh added: "I am truly honored to have been asked to replace Eric as vocalist for Textures. Textures is a standout band and is a band which I've listened to the last couple of years, like so many other metal-fans out there. Although it was a pretty tough decision to leave my former band Cilice, this was an offer I just couldn't refuse. The guys in Textures are just a great bunch of people and it is clear that there is and will be loads of inspiration for the next years to come.

"I also know how much Eric was respected by the fans and I hope that I can assure you guys out there that I will replace him with as much dignity as he did for Textures the last 6 years. All I can say is that we as Textures are ready to rock everyone out there and that the anticipation for the next album can be withhold. We are in writing process at the time and I can reveal that it is going to be kick-ass as always!!"

they're both meshuggah clones so it's perfect

The guy performed pretty well on "Deranged Headtrip." His highs (or shrieks) were a little tiresome though.

As someone else said, looks good theoretically.

This just reminded me that The Ocean has a new vocalist as well that nobody has heard yet.

Everywhere I see you, you always talk about The Ocean. "Oh wow The Ocean and Precambrian."

With DEP and Deftones out of the way, that's the next big thing that I'm waiting for.

Excited, although it's painful that Eric had to leave in the first place. Also, the Meshuggah-clone-argument has been as unsuccesful at being intelligent as Chuck Norris jokes have been at being humorous.

You can here the obvious influence of Meshuggah on these guys in some parts of their songs. But to say they're total clones is insipid.

Cilice and Textures are pretty much the same, so the new singer should fit in nicely.

I also reckon these guys are/were worse than Cilice. So, yeah. I totally agree with the above comment. Not a good news at all.

I always wondered if it had anything to do with Cynic's famous instrumental song from "Focus."

He's actually really good.

Kinda makes me upset because Cilice kicks some serious ass. I hope they don't break up because of this.

Sure, but I can wait longer on that than the new Cilice. Seems like they got a new singer btw.
