I'm glad I found this!

The song sounds good so far. I love how his voice seems to get better as it ages.

Sounds alright. Doubt they'll reach the heights of 'Character' though...

Hey, this sounds like death metal. Moreso than most of their other stuff, at least. The beginning guitars and vox remind me of Devildriver a bit.

Those keyboards seem a little corny in places, though. Otherwise it sounds pretty good.

Nothing outstanding. I doubt this will reach Character's heights. Focus was good, but was basically Character 2.0

A bit more rythmic than usual, but a dull song nonetheless. I have hopes the rest of the album will be better.

Probably one of the worst album covers ever. Song was boring and felt watered down compared to everything else they've done.

Nah, song was alright in a few spots but you can't deny this is kinda weak by Dark Tranquilty's standards. Honestly now that I think about it, they sound exactly like Raunchy. Balls will agree with me.

Song was pretty decent, but i definitely agree that it's not up to Dark Tranquillity's standards. Hopefully the album has a lot more to offer.

Cliche, maybe, but:

one of the worst album covers ever.

No. I could list off dozens and dozens of albums with WAY worse artwork.

Nothing that impressive really, but not bad. Hope the album improves upon Fiction which was also pretty decent but inconsistent imo.

I do exagerrate sometimes, no doubt about it. However, all I see is a second rate, nu-metal album cover. Maybe one of the worst for 2009?

I couldn't agree with WIZARD more. The song is not bad, but its nothing special at all and is one that I will probably end up skipping over on the cd. Also, yes, the album cover is horrible. Looks like something a local shitty death metal band would come up with. Character and Fiction had awesome covers. I hope there are some clean vocals on a few songs as well. I like his singing voice and it changes things up a bit from time to time.

Raunchy? I don't know dude, this song although mediocre is still heavier and boasts deeper vocals than Raunchy who is essentially pop metal.

Listen to Death Pop Romance and right after, listen to this song. It's scary how much this sounds like it. I think it's because DT have been watering their sound down for years now. This is proof of what happens when you keep stripping your original sound.....you turn into Raunchy.

Dude they really haven't been stripping their sound down at all. Their first album which can be called the same as their current style was Haven, which was pretty good. Damage Done was fantastic, Character was boring, and Fiction was awesome. So I can't see where you are coming from when you say that they have been watering their sound down for years if its sounded the same for a decade yet hasn't been progressively getting worse.

Wizard

They aren't even death metal anymore, that's a start. Secondly, their chord progressions are pretty much none existent when you consider they've been chugging the same open chord for the past few albums. Thirdly, their keyboard additions have progressively just been thrown in with the same results and have been getting more bland for the past few albums. I don't know how else to explain this. Damage Done was a step in the right direction, Character was as close to perfect as they will ever come to their "modern" sound, and Fiction is a stripped down version of Character (still good nonetheless). Their new song is simply them doing the same thing over and over again without anything new added in.

I still don't hear the Ranchy. This is easily heavier than anything they've ever done. But anyways, this song, By Dark Tranquillity's standards, is pretty "by the numbers" stuff. Spacey Keyboards, heavy riffs, and deep vocals but lacking the heart of the best songs on Fiction. of this is B side at best.

Here's hoping the guitar melodies get a kick in the ass on the rest of the album. Their new sound is good and all, but I miss when the guitars were the main driving force of the "melodic" in the melodic death metal.

If they could blend both Fiction's riffs with Character's keyboards i'll be content.

How about the riffs from The Gallery with the keyboards of Character with the atmosphere of The Mind's I. That would be great.
