Blink-182 Biopic in the Works

24-year-old filmmaker Brandon Flores is preparing to film a movie about the original Blink-182 (Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Scott Raynor). Having been inspired by 2005's Lords of Dogtown, Flores wrote a script based on his love for the band and the influence they had on music in general.

Quote:
"I saw that movie and I thought, 'The guys in Blink deserve a movie like that about them'. They have an awesome life, and they're one of my favorite bands. So the idea got in my head, and over the summer — right around the time of the Blink reunion tour — my friends and I started writing a script about their early days."

Blink will focus on the years preceding Travis Barker's tenure with the band, opting to concentrate more on the formation, early troubles, and hijinks along the way.

The band has not yet formally endorsed the film, despite the fact that Flores has began to raise funds and is planning to begin filming in April, 2010. Casting notices have been posted on Craigslist, which were then linked on absolutepunk.net.

MTV questioned Mark Hoppus about the film. He responded: "No, I didn't know anything about the movie. I wonder how it pays? Should I try out for the part of Tom?" Blink-182 (with Barker) previously appeared in 1999's American Pie, for which their song "Mutt" was used in the infamous "Nadia scene." Delonge also appeared in 1999's Idle Hands.

Additionally, Tom Delonge's other active band, Angels & Airwaves, is still planning on releasing their feature-length science-fiction film, Love on Valentines Day, 2010. The band's third LP, also entitled Love will be released in February 2010 as well, and will be offered to fans free of charge.

Music/Movie/Biopic Trivia: Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst was originally slated to direct Lords of Dogtown before being replaced by future Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke.

lords of dogtown was a bit of a disappointment for me...i miss teen comedies like the original
American Pie and Idle Hands...so much better than the recent batch of "GENRE Movie" or "Knocked Up"
clones...

did anybody see "Sex Drive"? that one was surprisingly nostalgic for me. Thank god for Kevin Smith.
Without him I would have no reason to see comedies in theaters.

this is pretty much the opposite of a good idea.
Dude, Blink has done NOTHING important to modern music, except made arguably the best pop punk record in existence, and even then, there's 'Dookie'.
Mark had dad problems, Tom drank himself out of high school and they smoked a lot of pot and thus met Travis who was selling them drugs and could drum. Then they booted the old drummer and made millions making potty mouthed records...there's your movie.
also, I love Blink, and this really pisses me off.

LOL @Yeti.
Probably should clear up your knowledge of Blink's early days mate.

And as for this movie... I think it's a stupid idea, even the band don't support the idea.

no, I saw them in concert when I was 16 and they made a joke about their formation. So like, sorry if I'm off on mi details, I guess it was from the mouth of a very drunk Tom.

Blink 182 influencing? Absolutely in no way at all, that is unless you're counting the bands that had a influence in pushing the mainstream farther down into decline.

If Lords of Dogtown inspired you to make a film in any way other than, "I KNOW I can make a better movie than this," then you have insanely low standards.

I'll be skipping this, though I am curious to see how much they'll white wash Tom's insufferable douchebaggery.

I'm waiting for something bigger before I crank up the vitriol. As it is, just saying that Tom DeLonge is making a movie about his next album is a punchline in and of itself. You're not supposed to parody a parody.
