Supergroups usually suck, Them Crooked Vultures are the exception. Grohl can still write the occasional good tune for Foo Fighters, Homme is kind of "meh" lately, and it's been so long since John Paul Jones has been in anything significant which lead me to believe this would be a Chickenfoot-esque clusterfuck. Homme past his prime? Lullabies had some killer riffs, and whilst Era Vulgaris only had a couple of amazing tracks, he more than made up for it by producing the best arctic monkeys album.

Of course TCV was going to be good. Homme gets to sing and write killer guitar riffs which he has by the shitload, Grohl doesn't do anything but bash at the kit (which is what he should stick to), and JPJ is still a great bass player. I don't give a flying fuck about how "culturally relevant" he has been recently.

And fuck Chickenfoot. With Hagar involved, it had to suck. Van Halen died when he started singing.

Josh Homme is still as awesome as he was five years ago. Besides their debut (because I haven't got it), all the QOTSA albums have been killer, and so was Humbug. Whiel Dave can still pen a decent tune when he wants to, he has started to wane a bit. Fortunately, all he's doing here is drumming, and he's fucking awesome at that. And JPJ is the BASS PLAYER OF LED FUCKING ZEPPELIN
