New Rush Album is Tentative

2009-09-16 by K. Prince | 25 Comments
Alex Lifeson, of the well-aged canuck trio Rush, spilled the beans on some very tentative recording plans for the band's 19th studio album. The album would potentially see a 2010 release with he band entering the studio in fall 2009 with producer Nick Raskulinecz.

Lifeson says, from the August issue of Classic Rock Presents Prog: "Tentatively, we start work on the next album in the fall - I did mention it to Ged before he went away on holiday and he sort of looked the other way. Come September and we'll certainly have some plans, we did the last record, or we started on the last album in the fall and I'd like to do that again, start recording maybe. I don't know who might produce, that's some ways off yet."

Lifeson also answered fan's requests for another "concept" record in an interview earlier this year. "We're [Rush] in this mode of not working now, kind of enjoying being bums. And Nick [Raskulinecz] is calling us with all of these heavy conceptual ideas. I think he thinks we have to make our grand statement - like it's now or never. [...] That's the only concept we're after: 'Is it good?' If there's a storyline attached, well, I don't know... I'm not thinking along those lines. Didn't we do that already? Rush aren't into repeating themselves."

The release would follow-up the band's 2007 release Snakes and Arrows, which was also produced by Raskulinecz.

Judging by Snakes And Arrows this could potentially be a Rush classic. I have high expectations.

Ooer .And Rush are one of the only famous classic rock bands that actually makes a point to play in Calgary. Yay for Canada's offical Ambassadors of Music.

The new album is tentative, and will be quite tentative. It has been tentatively titled, and some of the music was quite tentatively written.
Recording for the album has been aproached quite tentatively. It will definately be one of their more tentative releases.
Fans responses to the album may be tentative.
