Also a new Skin Tension - Celebrant popping up too. It doesn’t go for 27 hours this time.
It might have my handle on this blog post, but it was brought to you by Jom and the letter K.

Pretty stacked week!

Demon of the Fall
03.15.23
despite the fact there is likely some absolutely horrific stuff here, I actually have stuff to check this week!

Downfall of Gaia is a must. Emiliana Torrini has a new project apparently, okay then. Yves Tumor may have recovered from his temporary wannabe popstar misgivings.

Idk what Lana Del Rabies is but lmao, nice tags actually so may check

Kinda a sweet week in an under-the-radar way...

Downfall of Gaia and M83 are the headliners for me (don't have high expectations for the latter), but will check Black Honey, deathcrash, Emiliana Torrini & The Colorist Orchestra, and Ulfud (last one isn't on this list, Icelandic black/death metal).

03.15.23
dogshit week, only hot questions are whether m83 can surprise us all and break above a 2.5 and whether the actual LDR album can seize seize the opportunity and claim AOTW

Purpl3Spartan
03.15.23
Idk Johnny I’m intrigued by a lot of these tbh

izakaya
03.15.23

JohnnyoftheWell
03.15.23
okay hmm yes 100 gecs discourse will save the week, not hugely excited for the record but who knows!!

RedRightHand
03.15.23
All the m83 disses are just nonsense. This album is going to rip faces off.

izakaya
03.15.23
@johnny have you heard yves btw?

Safe in the hands of love is great and Heaven at the very least has some superfun tracks

izakaya

> All the m83 disses are just nonsense

whilst I have a lot of time for certain m83 albums, the disses are completely justified

Dewinged

Thanks for putting these together NocteJom, best team. Not too many exciting picks for me, so I'll go by labels and check ET and the orchestra, UMO and maybe that gothic metal album. Oh and Lana del Rabies but I'm too old for power electronics so I think it will make me tap out quick.

pizzamachine
03.16.23
The Redemption singles have been quite nice.

foxblood
03.16.23
I hope the new m83 is better than the last couple of albums

Demon of the Fall

'All the m83 disses are just nonsense. This album is going to rip faces off.'

press x to doubt.

Admittedly Dead Cities was a quality album, but that one is (checks notes)... 20 years old! Blimey

The Chelsea Grin, Downfall of Gaia, Redemption, and Contrarian singles have been a little underwhelming. I'll still check out the whole albums, but I don't have high hopes.

I haven't heard anything from the new Elyision, but I'll give it a try even though they've never been great.

Looking forward to hearing Kamelot, Emiliana Torrini, and Invent Animate

Is it just me or has this year been pretty underwhelming so far compared to last year?

Flugmorph
03.16.23
downfall of gaia is the only one im interested in here

Willie
03.16.23
I think last year we got a lot of the COVID releases. The albums people got to spend a lot of extra time and effort on because there was nothing else to do as a musician. This year we're just back to obligatory releases.

Atth3bottom
03.16.23
^ definitely true, great point

deathofasalesman
03.16.23
M83 really thought, hey lets put the ugliest album cover we can think of on our new record

the Downfall of Gaia silent hill album has me intrigued

Dewinged
03.17.23
There's also a new Phantom Elite for those in need of djenty lady fronted symphometal, a.k.a. pizza-core

pizzamachine
03.17.23
OMG I’ve been waiting for that!

Willie
03.17.23
It's okay. It's another solid 3.

Dewinged
03.17.23
I bailed at the rap verse, third or fourth track i think.

pizzamachine
03.17.23
Well that’s uh different
