Also, Sir Sly should probably be "alternative dance/R&B/rock" or something.

List is comprised from sources indiscriminate to genre pool. Genres may feature more heavily based on when they're released rather than who's building the lists. i.e. if it's a pop-rock heavy week you'll see more pop-rock. If Season of Mist and I, Voidhanger have multiple releases in a calender week you best be ready to get your m/ on.

I wonder how much Tom Jones' pr firm payed for a feature.

Feels like February in terms of releases so far but it's nearly May
Getting excited about the 10th best GSY!BE, the 9th best Mogwai, the 22nd best Nick Cave, the 4th best Antlers, etc

"You missed your chance then"
It was selected by multiple users? I presumed it was based on media lists and label news.

I just realised how bad it looks under dewinges comment.

Simply add more genre sources. For example any electronic leaning labels/blogs/whatever to the source pool. That's all :)
If you can't find any non rock from a semi-poplar artist then try searching this:
"April 23 2021" "album" site:bandcamp.com
Rudimentary Peni have a new album out on the 23rd.

Here I found some less obscure ones. First one is popular, and I predict the 2nd will be as big as some of the artists on here.
