Campbell Won't Slow Down 2026-08-21 by John Marinakis CONTRIBUTOR | 0 Comments | Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has revealed that his Hodgkin lymphoma has returned following a donor stem-cell transplant in January 2025.
Campbell was first diagnosed with the disease in 2013 and experienced a recurrence two years later. After his condition worsened during the winter of 2023, he underwent the donor transplant, describing it as his only remaining chance of a cure.
Although Campbell subsequently entered remission, he has now confirmed that the transplant ultimately "didn't stick." He is continuing treatment to manage the disease and expects that he may require another transplant from a different donor within the next few years.
Despite the setback, Campbell insisted that he is "certainly not slowing down." He remains active with both Def Leppard and Last in Line, while also pursuing his interest in rally driving.
Campbell joined Def Leppard in 1992, replacing the late Steve Clark. His earlier career included spells with Dio, Whitesnake and Sweet Savage.
