I'm actually a bit hopeful for this one. The overly long songs make me think LaBire's vocal lines are sparser and easier for him to sing. Even if it's self-indulgent (of course it will be), hopefully it's not generic. LTE 3 and Petrucci's solo album might have revamped their inspiration.

Album art is not great, but not terrible either.

I haven't been excited for a new DT album for a long time, but I am looking forward to listening to the t/t. If there's one thing that DT has always delivered on, it's 20+ minute t/t epics (A Change of Seasons, Octavarium, Six Degrees).

Getting strange 90s vibes from that album art, but I like it. Another thing about this album is that it was written during the height of the pandemic, with the band being mostly remote from each other–despite finishing construction of "Dream Theater Headquarters" (DTHQ) studio.

There's a few other bands I'm worried whose new albums could have been negatively affected by the pandemic, such as Skyharbor and Closure In Moscow.

Looking at those track times I’m appropriately pumped for this to be good.

Judging by the track lengths, doesn't look like there's any Sirius XM Liquid Metal staple track a la Paralyzed off the last album...

Distance over Time for me was their best record since Octavarium, so I am extremely pumped for this.

Their last album was good, so I'm hoping for more good stuff this time

Ehhh...I'll check it out as always. I haven't been into anything they've done post ADTOE but who knows, it might be good. I just hope Labrie stays within his comfortable range and doesn't stick any of his dying cat sounds on it.
